I recently had a motorized pumpboat built, 17 feet (5.23 meters), 7.5 hp gasoline engine.
Can carry 500 lbs (227 kg) of passengers and cargo.
Boat with engine is about 300 lbs (150 kg)
Probably 20 feet plus for 4 passengers depending on their weight.
Builder's name is Alejandro at Martisan Beach in Bacong. He and his wife sourced and transported all the materials which reduced much of the hassle.
Whoever builds the boat make sure to use Santa Clara marine plywood, it costs a lot more, but very good quality, everything else will fall apart.
Use a generous amount of pioneer brand epoxy and copper nails to hold it all together.
My sidewalls are 1/2 inch and the bottom is 3/4 inch plywood, most fishermen will use 3/8 on the sidewalls and 1/2 on the bottom.
7.5 hp engine, stainless steel prop shaft and prop, stainless steel rudder and universal joint was purchased for PHP8500 at Lucky Terminal on the very south end of the Blvd in Dumaguete.
7.5 hp will push my boat around 16 kmph. More power and speed would be nice, 16 hp would be a hot rod.
Longer and heavier boat will require more hp which will increase the price by at least PHP 5000
The engine layout uses a lot of space in the boat even though the engine is very small.
Mount the engine as far back as possible because the best passenger space is in front of the engine.
Materials PHP 16,000 and labor PHP 5000, epoxy paint was PHP 2000, mechanical parts PHP 8500. Total was about PHP 31,500.
You are probably looking at about PHP 40,000 - 45,000 for what you describe.
Took about 2.5 weeks to build.
I have some custom things on my boat that make it much nicer than a typical fishing boat.
I have things I would do differently on my next boat.
Send me a message if you want more info.

MKKS sells beef from Brasil. I buy the beef tenderloin which is pretty good. They only sell the whole tenderloin at about 750-800 Php/kilo which is good value. A typical piece is about 1.5-2 Kg.
MKKS is across the street and east a couple of stores from City Hardware, near the Cock Pit.
EDIT: They also sell a variety of sausages for those of you that like sausage.-

- Thread: NOT to old to cut the mustard

I see the humor in the article but deep down it just re-enforces the stereotype that wrinkly old 'geezers' should stay in their room or play cribbage all day.
Words like "codgers, old-folks, wrinkly-Romeos, geezers, oldtimers, and the scariest thing in my life" just contribute to the prejudice against retired folk having a life. If this kind of language was used against gays or people of colour the civil liberties people would be out in force but no-one in the first world seems to give a sh*t about retired folk. Thank you Philippines for allowing me to continue having a life.-

- Thread: Partner's Extended Family
My wife is from Cebu.
Years ago we moved to Negros and build our home here in Dumaguete.
I encouraged her to convince her sister to live with us. Since then she is with us permanently. Her brother and mother are visiting us frequently, as well as a nephew. Provided they got days off from work. They have there own rooms in our house. I am more than happy to welcome them at any given time. The door is wide open.
This works out perfectly for us since many years already. It gives us more freedom to travel around cause there is always somebody in the house to feed the dogs and taking care of things.
Family of my wife is pretty well connected and countless times they were able to manage things or just helping us with daily routines like government stuff, permits, visa or whatsoever. It makes life easier if you have good partners.
I never understood why people saying you should keep your wifes family away from you, live on a different island and stuff like that. If you really have to do that you just choosed the wrong wife. Simple as that.-

- Thread: China's COVID-19 vaccines are being called into question after infections surged in countries using
It bothers me, some of these stories. The article doesn't give any hard data to back up their opinion.
Yesterday there was an article on a CNN website basically saying "The Sky is Falling" They describe the horrible situation where health care workers in Indonesia have been infected with Covid even after vaccination with Sinovac. What they didn't mention in the story was that about 150K health care workers had been vaccinated. It seems 6 health care workers died, one of them had only 1 jab. The story did mention they have the Delta variant which I believe is more serious.
A story in Bloomberg (about a month ago) said Sinovac was 55% effective at preventing covid and 97% effective in preventing serious cases requiring hospitalization.
I thought that was pretty good.(?). If there are only "dozens" of health care workers in hospital and 6 dead out of 150K people that sounds pretty impressive to me. Especially considering they have the Delta variant (they are a little vague on that detail). Here's the CNN link: https://edition.cnn.com/2021/06/18/asia/vaccinated-indonesian-doctors-covid-19-intl-hnk/index.html?utm_medium=social&utm_content=2021-06-19T07:00:07&utm_source=fbCNNi&utm_term=link&fbclid=IwAR2fXIE4f8QSyqn7Ay7p0NTTga9R3L6ANJf8vKfRclwGHEW1hG4nTrOAOGw
For my self I will take my second jab of Sinovac sometime next week and wait until something better becomes available. Hopefully more will be known about mixing different vaccines soon.
There is so much garbage reporting going on right now it's hard to know who or what to believe.-
