Just pointing out so there's no confusion, the original post/link was about Roman Catholic CHURCH annulment, while most of the discussion has been about CIVIL annulment. Even in the Philippines, they are two separate processes. Securing the former won't invalidate the marriage in the eyes of the law or free the person to remarry. However, there is an opinion from the Philippines Supreme Court that says, "Interpretations given by the National Appellate Matrimonial Tribunal of the Catholic Church in the Philippines, while not controlling or decisive, should be given great respect by our courts." So getting a church annulment should in theory help getting a civil annulment, but doesn't guarantee it.

I didn't get my deposit back on a rental in Tandayag. Saw a lawyer (near Robinsons) who advised me to go to my local courthouse (Dauin, I'd moved to Zamboanguita) and lodge a Small Claim. I did. VERY helpful court staff. Gave a printed statement of chronology, copies of emails, notes of phone conversations. Court served notice on landlord - copied to me - landlord gave the full amount owing to the Courthouse a couple of days before the scheduled hearing, where the Magistrate passed the envelope of cash to me. Process took about a month. Very impressed.

It *sounds* nice but the sad truth many of us have seen is no appreciation or positive return on our tipping. Instead its treated as its expected because we are foreigners and of course as a foreigner can afford it. After all everyone knows we wipe our arses with 1,000 peso bills. If we don't tip big in some cases where they expect it due to other foreigners or a tourist establishment we are a cheap arse even when service its horrible. After all it can't be their fault.

JUSTICE FOR PHIL: I am pleased to report that the Dumaguete PNP has identified suspects related to the Phil Prins murder. Due process IS in progress. This is considered a high priority investigation and is being processed in an expeditious and professional manner. They must however, adhere to Department protocol and the relevant law of the Philippines. The department has recently conducted a media release to inform those following this tragic event. Please allow the authorities do their job. I am confident that Justice for Phil will be attained. Phil's Lady Friend is requested to contact the PNP representative at her earliest convenience. Let's enter the New Year with renewed hope, Love and Peace in our hearts - as Phil would have wanted it. Dumaguete - remains "The City of Gentle People"

So wear a mask AND carry out all the other precautions necessary to protect yourself and your family.

Because money (along with all surfaces, including handles) is a strong potential source of infection, it does not mean that negates using a mask (in fact, as we touch our faces many times per hour, it makes a mask even more essential). Btw, all these potential sources of infection have always been so for a variety of viruses, bacteria and fungi (even free peanuts in bars were tested and showed about 20 different types of faecal bacteria and urine samples) - that fact has been given prominence now only because the virus circulating is so dangerous, but many types of infections are caused by what we handle and how we then touch our mouths and eyes.

I could list many ways to avoid getting infected (and I am a virologist) but they have been stated so many times by myself and many others that if people haven't got it by now, they never will. I am guessing that many foreigners see it as a weakness to wear a mask and other PPE, but if they take the virus back home and infect their families I think their regret will be almost unmanageable.

Another thing that folks need to be made aware of regarding face masks: Face masks are not reversible. The colored (blue/green) outer layer is fluid repellant and is meant to prevent water droplets from penetrating the mask, while the white layer is absorbable, because we exhale moisture. If you invert the mask, you defeat the purpose of the mask and the germs/viruses will stick to the outside of the mask, making it much easier to penetrate and enter your respiratory system. You must wear masks with the colored side out, always.
There is something going around about wearing the white side out if you aren't sick and the colored side out if you are. This is a very dangerous practice.

3 houses, 3 grenades. Problem solved. Or fuel up the helicopter, mount the 50cal and chop the houses down. If there was a time for the military to show extreme force now would be it. Show these inbred donkey f*ckers that their presence in the Visayas will not be tolerated under any circumstance.

Our 6 year old son has started first grade. We had him in Dumaguete Agape Chinese Christian Academy for kindergarten, which was a great school and he did very well. We moved to Siquijor and put him in another kindergarten there....it was terrible. We took him out and put him in another....it was terrible also with all the dancing and other BS. We ended up doing a home schooling course. We hired a young lady to "teach" him as the curriculum is already made out and CDs with world class teachers. He is doing great although we are currently in US taking care of business. He is reading at a fourth grade level, he is learning fractions, multiplication and division. We are using A Beka.
I do not want to raise him to be an employee like I was for many years before becoming an entrepreneur. Academic achievements are overrated as many times they do not result in a better life for those achieving higher learning. I do want him to learn a strong work ethic, integrity, humility along with creativity and diligence, none of which can be taught in school. I do want him to question everything and then come up with a better way of doing things and know how to, and have the boldness to implement those ideas.

The most logical way to profit has not been mentioned. The staff at the main entrance could use the XRay machine at the door as a 'preliminary screening device' for would be travelers who want to be sure they have not 'forgotten' any contraband in their bags or had anything placed in their luggage. This 'advance screening' would be available to the general public for 50 pesos a bag. Be sure no one has tampered with your luggage before entering the airport.
