When a student age 15 is given homeworks which involves sticking two bits of card together, buying a plant or printing an A4 of a Korean Pop Group, I see that age 15 here is age 6 in the UK.
I also know an Honours' Student who, whilst achieving mid 90s in public school gradings could not get into private school and had a score below 60.
These poorly educated kids become teachers and so the cycle continues.
A major problem is that parents are unwilling to confront the schools and ask for something better. And many of these parents actually do their kids' homework!-

I'm in St. Luke's in Manila. I cried when I was wheeled in here because I recognized that I was in a real modern hospital with the paint still on the walls. The sun is coming up here this morning and I'm still breathing, it is going to be a good day.-

1. I think of all the people who post on here, Mr R shows no signs of any personality disorder - unless you think being honest and not afraid to speak your mind is a disorder. When we are being positive he can be very helpful - he will research topics and give his take in a way which shows he took it seriously and gave his time to help. When we are being negative, in the various ways that is possible, then he tells us. Nothing wrong with that - we can listen or not, it is our choice.
2. As others have said, when asking something which can be misconstrued it is very important to indicate when something is a joke. The matter on which you wrote has legal consequences which those protective of this marvellous site would naturally want no part of. 99.9999999999999999% of us are in agreement with that. Sometimes I joke and do not make it clear enough, but I will do so more in future. But there are jokes ... and there are jokes.
2. Is it not condescending to tell someone he needs another job? Mr R is a very successful expert in the field of electronic warfare - I think he "has another job".
3. If any of us find we cannot cope with being on a Forum where people make a range of comments, then simply ban ourselves - just look and don't comment or just don't log on. From my perspective, I find this whole site to be incredible, the information within it extremely useful and I value it.-

I have often said that I MUST ACCEPT things here I do not like or I leave (i.e. no one forces me to stay) - the corollary of that is that if I am NOT ACCEPTED here then also I should leave. Minimal standards of courtesy from a host country should not be too difficult to extend to its guests. In fact, I find the people very welcoming but I do not think that at higher levels it is the same - however, I am not sure that respect for its own citizens is there at authority level either.-

We tried it the other day for lunch, we both had the Beef Bourguignon, it was a large portion of really tender chunks of beef in juicy gravy served with mashed potato or rice.
Service was also good so in the words of Arnie, I'll be back.-
