We often give opinions on the most preferred eating places so how about doing the same for healthcare? Without being libellous, if members wish to state anyone they liked being treated by and perhaps those they prefer not to use again (here on this forum or by pm if preferred), I would collate it into a list and publish it here. It could include those working in Dumaguete, Bacolod, Cebu and Manila and cover all medical and dental disciplines. Sometimes people need to make decisions urgently and a list at hand of recommended healthcare professionals would be useful.

The only thing special about Dumaguete is that it's relatively safe and the people are mostly friendly and tolerant. As far as a "best place to retire", that all depends on what an individual is looking for. It's a small town, with a large religious component, terrible shopping, little or no arts, lousy beaches, steadily worsening bad air, ditto traffic. If you just want to kick back and are satisfied with mediocre restaurants, a rather uneducated populace, and you have a partner in life, it's ok. These media outlets will publish just about anything they think will get people to read, with little regard for any quality research. But it is rapidly changing and not for the better.

So what about this? Well that sounds like me as a child whining to my mother; " But all the other kids are doing it". It never was a valid excuse for bad behaviour, at least not where I grew up.
Lumping all foreigners together because of a few is not valid reasoning but the logic doesn't matter. What does matter is what the locals thing of us as a group.
My experience with Filipinos in my home country is that they seldom get into any trouble and there are about 700,000 living thee. I think the statement is generally true.
Regardless of what Pinoys do abroad is not an excuse for what some foreigners do in their host country.-

- Thread: One of my Dogs is missing!

Dogs can go missing for days and then suddenly return; so remain in hope. Certainly a good idea to take your other dogs with you as their sense of smell is far in excess of that of humans; either they could detect Shadow or he could detect them. Even possible they may lay a fresh trail to your home (the past ones having been obliterated by the rains last night) which he may follow if he meets it at ANY point.

lol Like a little child that sees the neighbor's kid playing with a toy they have never seen before. Run off and tell mommy that they aren't sharing. I hope they don't let Globe and PLDT get their grubby little hands on the frequency. Everything they touch turns to sh*t and I'm certain they would do everything they could to overload the bandwidth to make Telstra's service worse.
And if Globe/PLDT were smart they would avoid the 700MHz frequency and go with the 2.6GHz for LTE. The money is in the bigger cities where the 2.6GHz would be superior (shorter distance but allows for a lot more bandwidth). All they are trying to do is stop Telstra from entering the market by forcing them to share the 700MHz. Though providing internet over wireless to a large number of people is idiotic on Telstra's part. If they follow the same route that Globe and PLDT have went their service will be just as crap as what is already available here in short order. This country desperately needs wired internet infrastructure.-

One good thing is to get a PhilHealth card. It covered 50% of hospitalisation costs. Doesn't cost much. But the good thing is they can't salt your bill, as PhilHealth will complain if there is anything abnormal about the charges.

- Thread: The pace of Life
For me, during Covid, I deal with very few people now and being more of a loner, I like that better. Stress is less now that my wife had Pfizer and I don't have to stress as much when she meets with her unvaccinated friends. No face to face school puts stress on my wife playing teacher with our son. My wife has learned to cook pasta and other dishes I enjoy so not going out to eat is not an issue.
Most of the world news sucks so I pass on watching news and watch Netflix and sports on laptop. If only I wasn't getting older no complaints but considering the alternative no complaints. Stay safe-

If you managed to complete a bureaucratic process (whatever it was, and with whatever agency), in an hour for only 80 pesos ... you should be celebrating.
