I can't imagine where anyone would get the idea there was no risk to them, whatever their age.

There's a laboratory called Curie Laboratory near the boulevard and its charges are only 1/4 of those fees in big hospitals. And you get your result instantly, in a few minutes. Curie Lab is situated on the ground floor of Spanish Heritage near Bo's Coffee, boulevard area.

When I lived there, I LOVED the smiles everywhere! It didn't matter if they were rich or poor, the Filipinos always had a smile to offer.
I miss the instant welcome you get from everyone. People you have never even met before treat you like family, with open arms and FOOD!!
I miss hearing the ocean waves as I would walk along the Boulevard every morning, watching the crabs climb up the rocks, and the old lady who was always there taking her bath.
I miss my friends that are there. I had so many friends that I do not have here in the US. I think everyone is just too busy with work and life here, we forget to stop to enjoy life and friends.
There are so many things I love and miss about Dumaguete/Philippines. My husband is buried there, I miss him very much.

I was at the newly opened beer garden last night and enjoyed some very good craft beers, it is located on the left side of the highway going up to Valencia about one kilometer past hypermart they also serve some very very good brathwurst.

    I don't know.
“Informal settler” is the politically correct term for squatter. These are the terms you want to use as a basis of your searching on the Internet. Your friends in the informal settler community may not have the skills and resources to educate themselves quickly.

“A 1992 law says demolitions and evictions will not be allowed unless the settlers occupy dangerous areas, when the site is needed for public infrastructure projects, or when there is a court order.”

Land ownership and hoarding leads to artificial scarcity. The Philippine provinces are way too poor to support the rat race caused by artificial scarcity. Artificial scarcity is caused by land banking, the practice of hoarding land and holding it back from development until its price increases. I add this because you mentioned that there is a big land owning company involved.

It is important that this become an administrative legal issue where it can be managed calmly.

Here are some links relating to informal settlers and squatting.

Here is a recent article about the negatives of land hoarding and artificial scarcity.

I have to agree with Rye on this.
I will say you can find plenty of good women but most are horrible at it. We chase plenty of women and plenty will hop into bed very easy. The ones who are more often better are the ones who aren't really looking and you have to fight to get which means they take time and work but most hit up a dating site and go with the pretty and young girl who will meet them right off and screw him which is almost guaranteed to be a gold digger. Many of us who are in committed *good* relationships know a few of these good girls but we tend to warn them off of foreigners as so many of the single foreigners are just interested in screwing around for a bit and those who try give up to easy because she wouldn't hop in bed within days of meeting. Just remember its a two way streak for good or bad. Bad girls create bad guys and bad guys create bad girls.

Also, be careful not to identify the man in any way here. If he feels your intent in posting here is to "tarnish his image" he could get you for defamation. Understand that there are *ssholes in every city (even in "The City of Gentle People"), he sounds like one of them. Best to just avoid him and let it go.

This is an important topic for many forum members. I have at least four friends here with prostate cancer. I recently went to a Dumaguete local clinic for a minor problem and asked if I could get a PSA blood test. The doctor said they do not do the special blood tests but gave me a prescription and said to go to Holy Child or Silliman. I went to Silliman Medical Center, after fasting for 12 hours and had the PSA blood test. The cost was 2090p. I got the results 5 hours later. Thankfully, my level was under 4.0 which points to a lower risk of prostate cancer but of course not bullet proof.
I urge all males over age 50 to get the test if you haven't the last year. Actor Ben Stiller, age 50, recently announced he has prostate cancer that was caught early enough to save his life.
Best wishes to Lorraine's partner for a speedy recovery and thank you for the post.
