The wife was really wanting a Belgian Malinios male and female pup that were papered (PCCI) and was not having any luck finding them around Dumaguete or Cebu so she found what she was looking for in Manila. She also decided she had to have a Siberian Husky as well...
I was in Manila with her (before heading off to Korea) to pick out the pups. A black female Belgian Malinios and fawn colored male. She's had the Belgian pups for a little while now but the Husky was delivered yesterday. She is about half the size as the Belgian pups but makes up for it with tons of energy. She fit right in, though our Black Belgian female keeps a bit of distance.
Just a heads up for folks buying pups from a distance and trying to get them back home there are some requirements to be aware of. The airline requires the pups to have a rabies vaccine, which is given when they are about 3 months old; what the wife was not told is that it has to be 2 weeks after they've been vaccinated before they are allowed to travel, so that was a delay. Also the normal required vaccines.
When you check the pups in, they cost extra from whatever baggage you are allowed and the airline prefers a heads up and they need to be checked in a airline quality cage (not like a chicken in a cardboard box). It cost 6,000 peso for them both to fly. They figure by weight and round up from what the wife told me.
The Husky was younger so we had to wait and she was shipped as cargo on an early morning Cebu Pacific flight. That cost another 3,000 peso.
The wife will also have to change the PCCI registration to her name as well as changing the pups names to what we named them. She was waiting on the husky to do them all at once; I don't remember what we paid to transfer before but I believe it is between 1,000-2,000 per pup. I'll update the actual cost once the wife makes that happen.
The attached pictures aren't the best but I'll post some more later if the wife can get some better pics.

- Thread: Age and Blood Donations
Another problem with O- blood donors here are that a lot are classed as too old. I know at least 2 others here in this province besides myself that have O- blood, however, as we are all around the 60 year old mark or more, I believe that we will not be accepted because of age, or previous illness. When I first came here in the late '80's, I was a regular blood donor for Silliman medical, often donating up to 4 units a year, when I was home from work, I still have my card that they issued. With such a comparatively rare group, when in an emergency where someone's life is in danger, I feel that the rules should be changed, but then I'm not doctor, so what the **** do I know.
(Anyway, three of us have an agreement, if any of the others are in need of blood we will donate, to save life, despite what Silliman, the Phil Red Cross or whoever else says otherwise).-

- Thread: Philhealth for an expat?
Yes! I went to Philhealth at Robinson Place Mall. It is next to the CRs at the food court upstairs. Filled out the form, only had to supply a copy of my ACR card. I am married to a Filipina so I also provided a copy of our marriage certificate. Waited for about 5 minutes, she gave me a bill and sent me over to Western Union to pay for this quarter Oct-Dec. p600 for the quarter no pro-rating the fee. Adding my wife was no additional charge. I was 3rd in line at Western Union, so 15 minutes waiting there. Went back to Philhealth with the receipt and she gave me my card and Philhealth receipt. You have to get a 1x1 photo, attach it, sign the card and have it laminated. I got package 2 at the photo guy next to the german bakery in Valencia. p70 for 3 1x1, 4 2x2 photos and laminating the Philhealth card. Come January I will probably pay for the entire 2017 p600 x four quarters and be done with it for a while.

Hi guys,
I would just like to share this very good news and certainly will help a lot of people in case of emergency. Just last week, I had to call the police to report a drunkard harassing every passing vehicles near St. Paul University gate 3. It could have been an easy 911 call instead of googling for the local police station number.

Note: Please be reminded that prank 911 calls is considered a serious offense and punishable by law.
Cheers to the Duterte administration for making this happen....fast!

- Thread: Home Burglary
During the night thieves pried open the crappy locks on my front window and reached through the gaps in my security grill to steal my Apple MacBook Pro laptop then used a long stick to snatch my bag with my iPhone, wallet with cash and expired iCard [original in safe]. We heard my dog bark but for only half a minute then he stopped? Thieves climbed a tree next to my block wall and stepped on the barb wire and hopped into my yard. Police came and took the report. Will try the FInd my Phone Apple Capbility when the iStore opens.
Dog demoted to Private.-

- Thread: Doing some Eggplant experiments
Dave & Imp DI Forum Patron Highly Rated Poster Showcase Reviewer
I have been doing some experimenting with my eggplants seeds, the Spitfire F! Variety planted in the ground. I planted 8 plants, 6 got fish under them. Of those 6, three got no additional fertilize, and three got the combination I make up in liquid form of Ammonium Sulfate (2 TBS), Potassium sulfate (1 TBS) , Magnesium Sulfate (1 TBS), Ferrous sulfate (1 TBS), one cap of Micro base per one liter of water in coke bottle. If there is still room in bottle, I throw in the kitchen sink (lol), as I am trying to give them everything I can I pour into the bottle. Then I use about ½ liter of the mix in 6 liters of water (in watering can) and fertilize about twice a week.
There are two plants with no fish under them, one gets no fertilize and the other get the same formula as above. The two with not fish under them are on the left hand side. Not the highest scientific level of experiment but pretty good for me.
All the plants with the fish below them are growing the best, and I do not think the roots have fully penetrated the layer of fish. However the plants with the fertilizer from above all seem to be doing about as well with or without fish (just a small amount of difference at this time).
I planted the eggplants in holes, and mulch with leaves to keep the soil cool and moist during this hot season. Wish I had written down when they went it the ground, I imagine it has been less than a month from seedling pots.
Here are some photos.
Here are the 8 plants, the two rows on the left side of camera has fish under them when planted. The far right two plants had no fish. The plant on the far right closest to the camera got the liquid fertilizer, but no fish (First Photo)

Here is photo of the four plants on the left side.. all had fish under them, the front ones to camera had fertilizer too mix too..
Here are the four plants on the right had side. The two on the farthest right do not have fish, but the closest two. The two on the top did not have fertilizer. The one in the lower left had fish a and fertilizer.
The experiment will continue, and see the results and the crop productions of eggplants. Conclusion at this point in time is that fish and fertilizer helps to grow bigger stronger plants.. I will continue to experiment for 60 days and post again.Attached Files:

I am a regular customer pawnshops here in the Philippines, and not once has it been to pawn anything off. I mainly go to the pawnshop here in Valencia (M Lhuillier) to pick up money I send to myself through Xoom. It seems that every couple months I find something else that this pawnshop in Valencia can do (all of which save me a trip to Dumaguete). Currently I use M Lhuillier to do the following:
- Pick up money sent to myself through Xoom.
- Pick up money sent by other people for forum stuff.
- Pre-paid load for cell phones. (Globe for me.)
- Load G-Sat (Satellite TV)
I just found out yesterday I don't have to waste my time going to Robinsons (and stand in line) to:
- Pay my Globe internet bill.
Just though I'd share so other expats don't overlook this option that can help avoid some headaches and unnecessary time spent in Dumaguete traffic. FYI: I have not once been screwed over by M Lhuillier (or any other pawnshop) and their prices are fixed and posted for everyone to see (no long-nose tax).-
