I see the creep (not fast, just a slow creep) towards modernising laws in relation to the public good. It would be great if the noise regulations, which already exist, are enforced and strengthened. Even as a dog-lover (in the best possible sense) I think dog noise should be controlled - not tying them up on a 1m leash or in a 2 sq m cage would help - but as it is a major burglar deterrent I see little hope. Motor bike noise should be an easier one - just an official mobile roadside crusher should do the trick.

Thanks for your reply.
First of all I apologize in case I have insulted you. That was at no point my intention.
I didn't know that you have only little experience of the daily challenges in this country. Hence I was surprised of your "western thinking".
In our home countries we are used to live with rules, law and regulations and in case somebody is not behaving according to the law you can claim your right. At least this is the idea.
Here it's different. Completely different. You need to adapt local rules and forget everything you knew from the past.
From my point of view you can have a more or less decent life here if you can manage to avoid conflicts. Not only in terms if traffic, but in general.
Of course it's not always possible. Let your wife handle disputes. She can most probably do it in a better and more successful way.
The Philippines are ruled by tribes. Not by law.-

Yes indeed it's a very good point. I'm not going to go on about the ridiculous driving, motorcycles without baffles in their exhausts because they think it's cool. They don't realise how idiotic they are as it is detrimental to the bike's performance, etc.
I will say that we're in the process of doing something about it. All being well we are moving to the back corner, on the same side. Hopefully get a bar fitted to the back of the vehicle. We'll have decent furniture and protection from any overspray from the car wash and cover from the sun and rain.. It's all down to finances but traffic noise and barking dogs are the bane of my life.-

Merry Christmas. Power came back at 4:20pm yesterday, after Noreco fixed the down lines. Overall, Noreco performed great in this disaster.

Ditto - except no 2m stack of pizza boxes! Even as I read your post I had to check the day. It is Friday - where did Tue, Wed, Thurs go?
Am a great believer in accepting that people can do only what is possible in the circumstances - including what resources they have. For example, if you are stuck in a trailer then you think what is the best you can do for yourself and your family. In this situation I think the Philippines has done a fairly good job - we have to consider their lack of resources and (hate to say this but...) their complex bureaucracy when they lack the skills to implement it.-

Some deserved negative comments here about certain guests and their behaviour .... but it is very noticeable how many postings on this thread are from very decent human beings .... important to remember that the bad ones are just a minority.

I don't think being a mother is a medical qualification and I am not sure it is necessary to end a reply with LOL.
Unfortunately you know how to produce children but have very little knowledge of medicine - you wrote "when there's an infection there's usually fever and that's when you need antibiotics" and that is nonsense. Viral infections also cause fevers but do not respond to antibiotics - doctors' waiting rooms are crowded with people seeking antibiotics when they are not only of NO use but are actually harmful (being a mother you probably know about antibiotic resistance due to over use).
You also state that "But if it is something that can be fixed with vitamins or food, then there is no need to go to the hospital." That is another piece of nonsense. Tell me which illnesses can be fixed with food - I won't dispute vitamins (PART of food, incidentally) because, like religion, it is a belief in many cases.
You seem a nice person but I cannot allow such totally inaccurate information being put out there without correction by someone, who although he fails to have children, has a fair degree of medical knowledge by training and experience.-

Perhaps I misunderstand you, but why are "at risk people" not able to be sheltered?
And the Delta variant is now affecting the young much more than other variants - if people think Delta is the final variant then I think they will soon be proved wrong. I hope not, but the potential for Covid to become an illness of the young (where it could potentially cause serious illness) is present and so no age group should be thinking in terms of letting other age groups die.
I don't care how 'pointless' some people think the elderly are to the world now - I think more that these are human beings who have given much already (many served us in wars and helped give the freedom we, including the young, all enjoy) and have people who love them and want them around for as long as possible.
Thank God we have people like @danbandanna who have compassion.-
