Meanwhile, back at the build lol!! Well, another week gone and completion is getting ever nearer. The first two units have had their doors fitted, outside handrails and toilets installed. All tiling is complete and painting just about wrapped up. Just the electric shower, aircon and CR vents to install at this point. The second duplex has just completed tiling and is not that far behind. Great job over the last two weeks with a full crew.

Hi Jack and Pat, not sure about the Doctor part here, but for only P50 to P100 no matter how drunk you,, me or anyone here is, we can get home safe without killing ourselves or any innocent person, how hard is that? it's so easy to get a pedicab.

 

I have a son in UK of 45yrs, whatever happens to me he will step in and do the right thing by the family here and especially so for his half brother, I know many will will be thinking where inheritance is involved this can change people we have all seen this many many times. when I lived in Mactan with my partner (we are not married) and she announced that she was pregnant, I had a couple of what I thought were good friends come to me to have a man to man talk and their advice was for me to F off, my reply to them was I cannot do this as my Son in UK would never forgive such an action by His Father, needless to say these friends were cut off from that day forth, social and family values have gone out of the window in many western 1st world countries, but I am a Scotsman my son is a Scotsman and we do the right thing by our family's, I would trust this boy with my life, he also gave life to his sister in the form of a transplant, unfortunately she died 5yrs later, also understand my son does not need my money he has a Hoose in London a good job, good wife and two children he wants for nothing.

 

As I do. And I would NEVER treat a guest in my house or in my country the way I was treated on "rant day".

Perhaps some people treat their guests poorly? Such people are unlikely to get many guests.

I really don't see where this thread is going. The law is quite specific, so there is no excuse for breaking the law. If you fraudulently have a SSC and get this discount, then you will be dealt with if you are caught. Most of us are here because we can live cheaper here. How much would you need to save, compared to being fined, imprisoned or deported. This card is meant for Filipinos whom are struggling to survive. My response is stop being a Cheap Charlie and respect our host country.

 

There are various forms of logic - it is an individual thing arising from our own brains. In your case, you seem to think I am blaming the customer for an item being out of stock - but I never said that, you did. Your 'logic' also looks at circumstances purely from your own viewpoint and seems unable to take account of life lived under a degree of trauma that most of us have no experience of. If you are unable to understand the 'logic' of living in a country where everything is not the same as in your own developed and wealthy country and where people receive a good education, then maybe time to go elsewhere.

 

It seems one of the main concerns of your post was to make sure that you are dealing with honest folks. I will just toss in my 2 cents of opinion here as someone who has had projects done for me by Gord and his company. Gord helped me to find my house and I purchased it through his real estate company. After that his construction company did a very major remodel for me in which we took a large one story house, pulled to roof off it, and added a second story. This was a major project as the first story was not designed from the beginning to support a second story, so additional supports had to be incorporated into the first story and then massive big steal beams had to be constructed on site to create the structure for the second story to be built on. All of this was done while I was still living in the US and it was great to be able to log onto the site cams and watch the work in real time, and just about every week I would receive a big batch of pictures and descriptions of where we were at in the process. When we arrived here everything was completed and ready for our move-in. I am absolutely confident that we could not have got a better quality construction, or a better cost than what Gord was able to deliver for us. My recommendation to anybody who is considering doing anything relative to real estate in the DGT area (buying, selling, building, remodeling) ... your first step really needs to be to talk with Gord, he is so knowledgeable and experienced with all the 'unique issues' of working in this area. If you are overseas I would highly recommend that it is very much worth the expense to come here in person and see your property and meet with Gord to discuss your plans. Whether you ultimately use his services or not, certainly you will come away much better informed.

 

For Comparison: We have a couple who we use, one guy is a local here in Zamboanguita and will drive us to Dumaguete, wait for us when we go in to eat, wait while we do our Grocery Shopping etc... From Zamboanguita; we pay him 400 pesos to take us to Dumaguete, then another 400 pesos to take us home after our day out (he us happy to wait for us in between) and on the way home (if we are not too late going home) we usually stop at Chooks to Go and buy him a BBQ Chicken to take home to his family as it is usually well after dark by the time we arrive home here. We then tip him 100 to carry in our Groceries, so all up a 900 peso Fare (1100php with the BBQ Chicken) but well worth it for me.

Another guy (if we miss the first guy) usually spies us at Hypermart and races to us to bring us home as he lives nearby here and we are his last Fare for the day. We pay him 400 pesos to drive us home and tip him another 100 pesos as he usually carries in our 4x large boxes of groceries from the Highway along the Goat track to our house. Depending; we often buy him a BBQ Chicken also to take home to his Family.
