If you own or are planning on building your home a well is something to look into; if not your primary water source at least as a back up. Where we are the city water pressure was bad so when we built I did not even bring in city water; a well, pump and elevated tank provides enough water pressure. With a float switch controlling the electric pump you really don't have to think about much other than changing the filter every couple of months.

Refrigeration slows down the growth less and so food can still spoil at that temperature (around 4 to 8oC). The other factor is that bacteria and fungi produce toxins and, although the toxins themselves cannot reproduce, they will still be present after cooling or freezing - so how fresh the food is and how it was stored BEFORE we purchase it is a consideration (in that the amount of pathogens and/or toxins present will already be set).
Then we have to consider enzymes within the food - they are naturally there within a live animal but upon death of the animal they still have a continuing effect upon the food. Cooling/freezing will also slow down their actions but they continue to have an effect on the nature, and so texture and taste, of the food.
Some of this is true for plants - for example, ergot of Rye () can cause gangrene and convulsions! It is even thought that the Bubonic Plague was exacerbated in people affected by ergotism. So RYE has a lot to answer for!

People also need to be aware that microbes, including the Coronavirus, can enter the body by hand transmission through touching the mouth or eyes. A study showed that people touch their faces about 20 times per hour!
So first stage is to wear a mask now if you feel better, keep your hands frequently washed and avoid potential areas of risk - like Chinese New Year parties.
The final stage, if the virus becomes pandemic (infects the whole world) and has a high death rate (sometimes those that spread the fastest do not kill the most) is to self-isolate. This means to stay in your home! Avoid visitors, but if any do arrive then greet from a distance with a mask on, send them away asap and wash your hands. This is a very serious step to take but it may be the only way to reduce the risk from, perhaps, 50% to almost (and possibly) zero.
The flu pandemic of 1919 affected 500 million people and killed 50 million (these are only estimates and could be higher) - and think how infrequently people travelled in those days and how much lower and less-crowded the world population was!-
