My take on the hospital situation: Silliman is over-rated and they are not as friendly as Holy Child. When my husband was in Silliman hospital, he had his own oxygen generator, thus he did not use the hospital oxygen. Some guys from the mechanical dept came and checked his machine and told us it was fine to use, the nurse supervisor ok'd it, and we had Dr. authorization to use his machine. When we checked out of the hospital, there was an astronomical charge for oxygen on his bill. When questioned they said he had oxygen ordered and we must pay for it. We argued that we had gotten ok's from everyone involved and told them that we would accept the charge for the electricity to use his machine (although they weren't charging people to use their laptops, charge their phones, etc...). I paid the bill, minus the oxygen charges, and we were told we could not leave until that was paid. We literally ran out of the hospital with them yelling at security to stop us!! Not to mention they required a down-payment before he could even get a room!!
Holy Child took him right in and put him in a room, never asking for a penny up-front. He was allowed to use his machine, no questions asked. Holy Child provided a much nicer room, more pleasant atmosphere, and it is cheaper to boot. Yes, we had Phil-Health, and used it, however, for his last visit, Phil-Health wouldn't pay a single centavo since he had been previously admitted for the same condition. The last visit was our costliest, 160,000php plus our costs for medications and supplies. (This was still a bargain compared to what it would cost for 10 days in ICU, on a ventilator, in the states.) I whole-heartedly recommend Holy Child for any hospitalization. (Of course, you have to keep in mind, you will not receive the same level of care as if you were in a hospital in your home country, just bear in mind you are living in a 3rd world country.....)
Side note: Our daughter was a student at Silliman, and when she had to get her clearances, one stop was Silliman Hospital. Guess what? I ended up having to pay for that oxygen charge to get her clearance!! Silliman will hold you hostage, one way or another!)

I agree there are few "bad" dogs, but unfortunately too many bad owners.
I am a huge fan of Belgian Malinois and have posted many times about their attributes and why we love ours so much. With that said, they are a demanding breed that needs exercise and time with their family; we would never allow one to go to a first time dog owner. Both our girls had 2 litters so they are "retired" from breeding. Our big boy is still up for stud though.
Huskies are interesting...we have one and unfortunately lost one a couple years ago to an open gate. I personally find them aloof and for the first year or so remind me of a cat in their attitude. After that they are really sweet and are a pleasure to listen to as they try to "talk" to you.
Much respect always for responsible pet owners!

- Thread: Car battery's
If you have to get a new battery, I would recommend without hesitation the Goodyear place across from the Ceres terminal.
Several years ago they installed a new battery in my car. When they checked out the new install they determined the real problem was my fanbelt. They tightened the fanbelt, reinstalled the old battery, refunded my money and sent me on my way. No charge.
When I need tires etc that's where I go. Some places here do know how to get business.-

Assessment should consist of psychometric profiling via the Wechsler or for the younger the WIPSY - subscales should pinpoint the specific problem - but necessarily this should be undertaken by a properly qualified Educational Psychologist.
I liked the bit about language. Schools are language based competency environments and so for those with severe language based skills deficits in their makeup schools sometimes become incredibly stressful for kids. The trick here is to spot it early, not fall into the trap of calling kids lazy or unmotivated, provide adequate support and if the disorder is particularly severe not get hung up on performance/achievement. People generally compensate with another skill instead - usually something practical and not language based. Praise ‘em up there n things should go swimmingly.-

Freezing to 0 °F inactivates any microbes — bacteria, yeasts and molds — present in food. Once thawed, however, these microbes can again become active, multiplying under the right conditions to levels that can lead to foodborne illness. Since they will then grow at about the same rate as microorganisms on fresh food, you must handle thawed items as you would any perishable food.-

If this is a little off topic I apologize, but most of this seems to be dealing with buying a used car here. When you go to look at a used car, ask the dealer for a look at the current registration. Make sure the color and plate numbers match. Then check the date of the last registration and particularly the city it was registered in. If it isn't registered locally, or does not have a current year registration, tell the dealer that when they get that done to call you and walk away.
I learned that the wrong way, but I took the dealer to court, I won, he paid the fines and late registrations and finally I received a current registration in the city I lived.-

- Thread: Looking for Cardiologist
My wife's father was recently treated at Silliman for a mild stroke and Dr. Denura was brought in for a cardiac consultation. I felt she was okay as a cardiac doc, but I did not like her personally at all. She walks into the room like a queen and expects everyone to stop what they are doing, get out of her way and be quiet when she enters. When she ordered that a colonoscopy be done, I was in the room and asked very politely and respectfully if she could explain her thinking about why she saw a need for that test ... she brusquely replied to me, "and where did you get your medical degree from sir".
