Recent experiences with me range from a market trader rushing after the better half and me to hand over a chunk of fish that we had left behind; water delivery rider who would not accept P5 extra for the P35 bottle of water - both today and not isolated cases of this kind of behaviour experienced since arrival here in November. Rose-tinted spectacles, maybe, but I've never seen that kind of general behaviour in any other country. Of course there are scammers and scoundrels too....and I have come across those in a few countries, but that's simply a matter of sussing them out before they take you for a ride.

Different types of wood have different different results with termites.
Very hard woods like mahogany hold up much better to termites and rot. Coco lumber is soft and tasty to the pests. I am not sure how marine plywood holds up to termites.
My understanding is termites and ants generally come from the ground up. Concrete slabs make a very nice habitat for all kinds of pests which have many entry points into a structure. Building a structure on stilts limits the entry points to pests and is visible and treatable. If the stilts sit in a water or liquid basin ants and termites would not enter from the ground. Make a freestanding stairway that does not touch the structure and provide a path for ants and termites. A stilt structure can have advantages in the circulation of air and provide a shaded, dry area to park a car or motorbike underneath and easy access to plumbing. Plywood is a good building material but does have some issues with off-gassing from the glues used to laminate it together. I would not use it in a closed living space, only use with lots of natural ventilation. Every type of material and design have trade-offs.-

Best AnswerTried them out today, met the Owner and his Wife, VERY NICE couple!
Today's Special was buy one Beef Kebab get one Chicken Kebab Free! We tried both Kebabs, and while smaller than what I use to buy back in Oz, they were very tasty! (I ate TWO to make up for that!hehe)
Also tried his Home made Yogurt! Mine was plain with pureed Avocado and sliced Mango, I declined the sugar to sweeten it and despite being a lil sour as plain Yogurt usually is, I found it nice! Wife and Daughter were somewhat hesitant as they have never eaten plain Yogurt before, theirs had the Mango pureed in it and it did help to spread the flavour but lacking the sweetness, their Filipino taste buds were, well; taken aback a lil... (The Owner's Wife who is Filipina did warn them of that!)lol
We also sampled his stuffed/rolled Cabbage, these are Vegetarian, nice but as a carnivore, I must admit that the Vegie Brigade are really missing out on living without the meat I am accustomed to in Stuffed Cabbage Rolls!
He also makes his own Cheese, this would be great to add to Salads as it has a wet consistency to it unlike the cheese you can slice.
Next time I would love to try his Italian Spaghetti as he imports his own Spices, so am very interested in trying that out as well as his Meat Balls (I forget the Turkish name for these) as they are made from Beef and look YUMMY in the pics!
They are situated on the street (Cnr) so you sit on the footpath to eat. I enjoyed my short time there and was surprised by many of the local Tricycle Drivers friendly acknowledging smiles and thumbs up, would most certainly make a new comer very welcome to Dumaguete!Who knew eating outside on the Footpath could be so much fun!

Considering your issue nothing you *talk* about or books and the sort will help considering the standard attitude of that type of Filipina. Having other female friends for her to talk to about the real issues would be great except they tend to never talk about their problems other then the complaints they have about you.
The only thing you can honestly do is walk away from her. Be ready to split while saying how much you still love her but can't take how she treats you or acts anymore (still keep open communication such as texts after and try even maybe trying to ask her to dinner a couple times). Ball is in her court and either she tries hard to get you back realizing her issues or else it doesn't happen.
It really sucks but the women here are so very stubborn to admit they have issues (well women in general) and refuse to admit after a year or a few years they change and often stop caring for their partner moving into more of a roommate with occasional benefits situation.-

Not to mention the amount of trash for wrapping all that food for delivery.
So no, not a good thing, except for the food panda share holders.-

I have bought and successfully registered 2 used cars in the last 5 years.
Make sure any vehicle you buy has an LTO printed "OR" (original receipt) not a zerox, in the sellers name, not the person they bought it from or 3 people ago. Check the OR for any mortgages, this will block the transfer until resolved, this should be resolved by the seller before any money changes hands. Make sure the number stamped on the vheicle frame and engine match the OR. Make sure the color matches the OR. Make sure the license plates match the registration Walk away from any vehicle where the paperwork is not 100%, this is a very common thing here to stick the buyer with nightmare paperwork that takes forever (if ever) to resolve.
Check for a current registration, this can be resolved by the seller and is not a deal breaker.
Before any cash changes hands take all the paperwork to the LTO main office and have them inspect the paperwork, ask them for a list of requirements to transfer ownership. Test drive the vehicle up to Valencia and check for overheating. If you don't know much about cars you should have it inspected by a mechanic. Agree on a price with the seller.
The next step is getting a Deed of Sale from an attorney, they charge for this, sometimes too much. Pay with a manager's check from your bank, don't pay with cash. Make sure you have copies of 2 of your IDs and 2 IDs of the seller, make a lot of copies.
To transfer the with the LTO, you will need smog test, get 10 stencils of the frame and engine numbers, this will save time later. You will need to go to the Dumaguete Police crime lab for inspection which you pay P40 at Landbank and inspection at PNP highway patrol. You need insurance. If you want full coverage insurance go to Commonwealth near the port. The LTO will process the rest of the transfer. It could take several visits or several days to get it all done. I take small bites at it and not try to do it all in one or two days. I do not trust fixers or smog shops to do this, they will mess it up and getting it straightened out is a lot more work than doing it yourself the first time.-

- Thread: Philhealth for an expat?
Would the 76 hours be from admission to discharge or from admission to settling your account. The reason I ask is one time my wife was discharged at 10:00 am and it took accounting until 5:00 pm to get the bill sorted out. They wanted her to stay one more night while they "worked" on the bill and she said okay but I'm not paying for the extra night. The sorted the bill pretty quick after that.-
