Yes! I went to Philhealth at Robinson Place Mall. It is next to the CRs at the food court upstairs. Filled out the form, only had to supply a copy of my ACR card. I am married to a Filipina so I also provided a copy of our marriage certificate. Waited for about 5 minutes, she gave me a bill and sent me over to Western Union to pay for this quarter Oct-Dec. p600 for the quarter no pro-rating the fee. Adding my wife was no additional charge. I was 3rd in line at Western Union, so 15 minutes waiting there. Went back to Philhealth with the receipt and she gave me my card and Philhealth receipt. You have to get a 1x1 photo, attach it, sign the card and have it laminated. I got package 2 at the photo guy next to the german bakery in Valencia. p70 for 3 1x1, 4 2x2 photos and laminating the Philhealth card. Come January I will probably pay for the entire 2017 p600 x four quarters and be done with it for a while.

In duma hosp writing this.Dont bother with Philhealth Ins as of june 2017.I have been a huge fan of Philhealth for years and have benefitted greatly having been in hosp 2x for kidney stones once in 2013 and again in 2016.I was amazed at 2400p yearly premium and in 2 shortish hosp stays Philhealth paid together over 35000p of my hospital bills...fantastic value indeed!Well sadly all has changed drastically and imho is no longer worth bothering with.Premiums now 18000p yearly which still sounds very cheap right?Except now instead of paying a percentage of your bill they have "Case Rates"...X pesos per condition per hospitalization....and the new case rates are VERY low. IE...I am currently in hospital for a moderate heart attack..current bill sitting at approx 150k...Case Rate is max 18900p.Was a great deal before...now I think just putting aside a rainy day fund of 1500p a month is a wiser choice and every healthy year u have you are even further ahead.Just my recent experience and I know I will not be opting for the new premium and case rate system once I get out of hospital. Good health all

Hello Sir, thank you very much for your nice comments. Filipinos usually like the chicken parmesan, egg plant parm and baked ziti and lasagna too, if they add a little sugar. Once we get ourselves resolved to the growth we have experienced we will soon be adding some Filipino dishes. Our first next additions will be Southern US type BBQ pork and baked beans, probably a chunky beef pot roast type pie, or pot roast. Then will come a few Filipino dishes that my wife makes very well. Thanks again and we look forward to hearing from you.

Not so for me. My mother worked in a factory making tin cans after the war and I was the one who came home from school to an empty house, cleaned out the hearth, made and lit the fire and pealed the potatoes and put them on the gas so they were ready when she came home from the factory. I was 6 and thought nothing of it. Just something I had to do before I could go out and play before dinner time.

As I do. And I would NEVER treat a guest in my house or in my country the way I was treated on "rant day".

Perhaps some people treat their guests poorly? Such people are unlikely to get many guests.

There are various forms of logic - it is an individual thing arising from our own brains. In your case, you seem to think I am blaming the customer for an item being out of stock - but I never said that, you did. Your 'logic' also looks at circumstances purely from your own viewpoint and seems unable to take account of life lived under a degree of trauma that most of us have no experience of. If you are unable to understand the 'logic' of living in a country where everything is not the same as in your own developed and wealthy country and where people receive a good education, then maybe time to go elsewhere.

Just look at the largest and most successful businesses in Dumaguete. None of them cater to expats in the slightest bit. Low quality - low price is what keeps you in business and makes money in the Philippines. A very high percentage of expats want high quality at Filipino price and arrogantly b*tch and moan if they don't get it. I'd just rather not have them as customers.

As someone who has a background in health care in the UK, Australia and worked in areas around Asia where we had to use local hospitals I have this to offer.
Healthcare in any country has great variables good doctors bad doctors good hospitals lousy hospitals.

Expats seem to have no plans what to do in the event of an medical emergency, some come here with insufficient funds to manage serious medical illness. Medical insurance or having an emergency fund seems to get ignored.
The gold standard these days for a heart attack is fast movement from emergency room to the angiography suite for insertion of stents to open the coronary arteries.
Angiography is only available in Cebu or Manila and I dont know whether they follow worlds best practice in swift transfer to the angiography suite for treatment by an interventional cardiologist.
However......clot busting drugs for treatment of a heart attack have been for 15-20 years and if given in a timely manner can clear blood flow to coronary arteries in under an hour. Country paramedics in Victoria Australia give it on route to a hospital.
So why Silliman hospital cant treat a heart attack.......I dont know its not difficult the drugs might be a bit expensive.
Anybody in Siquijor .........good luck I have had an opportunity to see whats in their hospital and an expat I heard of who had a serious injury they refused to treat but did give the name of a boatman who could ferry him to Dumaguete. Subsequently following his CT scan he was transferred to Cebu as Silliman has no neurological facilities.

So I would urge people to have a plan that they discuss with friends and family have some money stashed away and have some idea of who they can contact for emergency transport. Rhoyle airlines at Dumaguete will fly you to Cebu or Manila for a price. Establish which hospitals you would like to go to.......all in Manila and Cebu is not good I went to the Holy Child in Cebu had a quick look at the Resuscitation area -no space and no equipment and thought ...........good luck to anybody hoping to be resuscitated there.

    I don't know.
Is "Pissed off Jim" causing a problem for the rest of us foreigners?

In this case "the doctor will not see foreigners anymore".

These people who go around overreacting or acting badly cause the local population to have a negative view of us all.
