Canada has to be one of the very best choices for OFWs - I would not recommend any going to most of the Middle East (as I am sure many would agree) and not even to the UK. Canada has great respect for its immigrants - many governments could learn from them.

- Thread: THE PHILIPPINE EDUCATION SYSTEM
Perhaps a consideration for some. I have a boy turning 10. I want him to be able to take care of my wife later in life, so a good education is necessary. So we prioritize our limited money and life style to send him to a private school since he was 2 and supplement that with the Kumon math program the last two years. I’ve seen from a few of his classmates, there are some very bright kids. So I believe there is not a heredity IQ problem here, just an extremely bad education system.

So the fear campaign put on by governments and the media directly resulted in people losing their lives prematurely. How many people's (people that were at extremely low risk of morality from covid) lives have been shortened and worsened due medical issues that came from the additional financial strain, unnecessary stress and depression by governments reactions and this fear campaign telling everyone that it is not even safe to go to the hospital? The world's reaction to this virus has been a complete sh*t show and has, IMO, done far more harm than good.

- Thread: Quarantine in Home
We had an LSI return from Siquijor to Sibulan last month and we were able to get approval for home quarantine. You need to start with the LGU office (office of the Mayor) and they will direct you to a medical office where we had to schedule a medical team to come and inspect our home. We have a maids quarters, and you need something like that, with sleeping quarters and CR completely separated off from the main house. The team took pictures and then went back to the medical office and got the doctor to approve. We then had to go to our Barangay hall and get approval from them. Then with all of those approvals in hand we had to go back to the LGU office and get their approval and a special COVID Shield certificate. The returning person was picked up by an ambulance with a team in full PPE gear and brought to our house where they had to remain in the maids quarters for 14 days. Someone from the medical office may come by unannounced at any time for inspection, after 5 days they came and did a COVID swab test (which was negative, took 7 days to get the results). So, it can be done if you have the facilities for it and go through a lot of work to get all of the needed approvals.

Well, obviously not knowing you're infected while you are is the worst (because of the danger to others).
That can hardly be avoided though as long as you are free of symptoms.
If you do know you're infected, either through a RAT (rapid antigen test) or a PCR test then the obvious thing to do is quarantine (with your entire household), even if you are symptom free or feeling just a bit under the weather.
Whether that represents a change of behaviour depends on the individual and his circumstances.
At the very least one should arrange for groceries to be delivered rather than a household member getting them.
As far as hesitancy to get a PCR test and face possible quarantine in a public facility is concerned, I very much share that hesitancy, so would much prefer to quarantine at home instead if the situation would warrant that.-

- Thread: China's COVID-19 vaccines are being called into question after infections surged in countries using
I agree with your facts and judgment. Indonesia has a very large population ~270 million, the USA is ~330 million pop. I would get vaxxed for the 97% odds of not going to the hospital. The hospitals may be overwhelmed, lack staff, and run out of medicine, ventilators, etc. They may have to practice triage.
The odds of getting it here may be low, but if you do happen to get it, you don't want to be hospitalized.-

I am scheduled for the AZ vaccine Monday in Bacong. Although I take some meds which might increase the risk, I will take the odds.

- Thread: AN URGENT PLEA
I think it is being resisted as the lower classes in the country simply cannot feed themselves when everything is locked down and the government can't offer the required assistance to keep them alive. When you live day to day being ordered to stay home and not work can be a death sentence. Strict quarantine is a greater risk to their health than the virus is.-
