We haven’t been able to have a family lunch at Casablabca for quite a while. Our boy had exams and finished early so the three of us went out for a special occasion. My wife and I shared a seared tuna with eggplant starter. She had a huge grilled chicken salad, I had a tasty chicken quesadilla and my son had pancakes. Gunther served us some home made Italian ice cream.
The south highway to Bacong at night is too dangerous so we never go out for dinner so it is great that there are good lunch restaurants.

Cannot confirm that. Outside, yes, all the foreigners, but inside to my surprise many filipino people, families with children, mixed groups, attorneys, local government people, Dumaguete upper class - eating cheese platters, cold cuts, schnitzel - seems Why Not is also popular among the locals also.

I decided that I would get my dive certification while I was on the Philippines on vacation earlier this month. After a bit of research I made reservations at Mikes Beach Resort in Dauin and completed the classroom portion of this online before I came to the Philippines in order to save some time.

Tom was my diving instructor and he did everything possible to accommodate my schedule in order that I could complete my certification and make it to a family reunion on Luzon. In spite of my demanding schedule they managed to get me through the practical portion of the padi course and get me to Apo Island for my final certification dive. I also had the opportunity to complete two additional dives at Apo on the same day.

I was overall impressed with all of the staff, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The dive staff was all very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The wait staff at the restaurant and bar were very friendly and exceptionally courteous. The food was also very good and I enjoyed every meal that I ate there.

My room was one of the deluxe rooms and had an awesome view of the sunrise coming up over Siquijor Island every morning. The maid service was excellent and the room was quite comfortable convenient as it was directly across from the bar where I had most of my meals as well as my morning coffee.

I fully intend to be back one day to do it again.

Yup that's the one, it's now called true love.

We arrived around 8pm and were immediately met by the very affable owner, sorry forgot his name. The place is not fancy how ever spotlessly clean and adequate for a nice meal. We chose to sit outside as inside is quite small and a few people there.

Soon as we sat the complimentary food arrived, honestly larger than a normal starter. He is doing a dis service to himself here. Curries were excellent as was the chicken. Very impressed with costings and quality, my partner was given a tour of the kitchen which she compared to a surgery.

The owner is over friendly and never left our table, this could be a consideration to first time diners wanting privacy. The guy is so friendly. Further he is involved in many charitable acts, feeding homeless kids and the like.

All in all excellent food, modest surroundings, very affordable, we shall return, highly recommended.

Located on the national highway just south of Robinsons. (Left side of the road if going towards Bacong.) It has been open for around 1 month.

Visited this place tonight. Air con, good service, comfortable seating, nice modern ambiance, clean CR, bar, really good burgers.

We had the chicken breast burger with spicy mayo (which I think was a not so spicy chili powder, mayo and nacho cheese), the bacon burger (the deluxe one), all came with potato wedges, and one margarita. The bill came out to ~P550. Satisfied with everything. Will definitely return.

After a long spell of cloudy days the sky miraculously cleared up on Thursday night.
The following images were captured with my 50mm/f2.0 portrait lens. Because of the large 25mm clear aperture (50mm/2.0), I can get some pretty decent stellar shots using short exposure times (to avoid star "trailing"). Thought I would share these. I have it on excellent authority that Octagon Sportsbar will survive, I know this because I'm the owner! Honestly is this a good topic to chat about or just for making gossip!

    I don't know.
I had a quick look over most of the postings here to see if there was a mention of Latinos in Valencia and there seems to be nothing said about it? Anyway was there today for for Lunch, they have an extensive menu most of which were at reasonable prices, I have eaten once before at the old place on the south highway and remember that being quite good only the décor left a lot to be desired, our 3yr old at the time was very upset the moment he walked in, in his small mind it must have looked like the house of Horrors, however the choice of colours in this new place are not so gloomy, only our now 4.5yr old said the floor is dirty, probably not the case but it is a whole mix mash of different tiles with splashes of cement here and there this could never look clean no matter how good it was washed, just to give an idea of pricing a Burger and fries is P230, 12inch Pizza 285 to 330 most Pasta dishes were around p220 and the Tiramasu was P65, SM Pilson P65, and a glass of Red Wine P90 the most expensive Bottle of wine available was around P1250 of the year 2013, he sells homemade bread a small 200grm loaf is p25.

This is located just down from Blairs foods you have to enter the forecourt of Gas and Go, bear to the right and enter the dirt road at the back, it has parking for around 6 to 7 cars, overall I would give this the thumbs up.

I don't recall this "continuous trashing" - in fact, many members write very positive reviews of restaurants. However, members here have the right to be forewarned of the bad as much as the good. You highly rated Kri, as have others, but if anyone has any negatives then they have as much right to let us know as you do. Does 'Tripadvisor' print only positives? And if it did, then would any of us know the truth.

This site is extremely good and of huge use to members living in the Dumagute area - it was as good under previous management as it is now. The owners create the space and the members make it what it is, especially in the Forums.
