I find your reply a bit insulting, do you really think I would eat somthing rotten and leave the place without bringing it to their attention first?
They couldn't miss the fact I had a rotten meal as I spent 5 minitues in the CR throwing my stomach contents into the toilet bowl!

They also said no charge for the meal , but I was with a very respectable friend of mine that insisted of paying for it, even though there was no way I was going to pay for the pleasure of being physically sick,

I have no axe to grind and the reason I posted here was because I think any business that advertises here needs to know that I got served garbage, the boss/owner was not on site when this happened and I am sure you have brought them up to date ,

As far as my reviews go, I have in the past had fantastic meals and should have posted about them, my finest meals being had in gerrys on the beach shame it's now gone, la fiesta always a d*mn good feed to name but a few ,

As far as this goes I won't feel any need not to post because you seem to think it should be kept private , I will always post negative or positive and not feel cornered into saying what is true!

I will be doing a couple more reviews when I get to my pc as I find it harder to use my cell phone to reply

Take it as you see it

New place to eat in Valencia, just across from Bumble bee's on Jose Romero on the left side going to Valencia. You have to look closely as it is a food truck parked inside a lot along with a Ukay Ukay and a car wash.
The owner has many years as a restaurateur in the UK and is an excellent cook, The fish and chips are my favorite. link to the FB page https://www.facebook.com/Zaks-Place-Food-Corner-106591900831763/

Went there today. First, it is a nice area, ample parking. No air-con so it is a little warm but cross breezes and ceiling fans are nice.

We ordered the chicken inasal, baby back ribs and a cheese burger with the potato wedges.

Chicken, flavorful, well cooked but just a tad dry.

Baby back ribs, absolutely delightful. Moist, tender and very flavorful.

Cheese burger. A first for me on a couple of fronts. Burger was bigger than the bun. Plenty of lettuce, tomato and onion. First time I actually had to cut a burger and had to eat it with a fork. Could not get it into the mouth for a full bite. Potato wedges were not oily or greasy.

More than the two of us could eat. Nice for take out. Service was good, staff friendly. I have eaten at the original Lord Byron's (at least I think it is) in Bacolod. They are good, but this is better. Definitely worth a try and a return trip.

    Thanks for your reply.
Well, I'm going to do my best to get the ingredients together and then, if the suppliers maintain a steady flow I'll certainly do it weekly, or as demanded. I'm not going to entice you with false promises but I'm going to go for it.

No, not locally. I managed to find white distilled vinegar at Hypermart. It's okay, a lot of chippies in the UK are using it now though it doesn't have the same kick as malt vinegar.
Just prior to opening I imported a small fortune's worth of dry goods and decent equipment. Part of this order was non brewed condiment. This is a highly concentrated form of malt vinegar ,water it down about 12 parts to each gallon. They wouldn't allow it on the plane. can't say I didn't try.
I noticed a query somewhere regarding tartare sauce. Correct I didn't have it the first time, you have no idea the pressure we were under at that time. Our 7 year old son, Zak, Had recently died at Silliman hospital due to wrong diagnosis, poor training and general laziness. We had just started litigation using a lawyer in Manila, a local lawyer may well be easily coerced. However, I digress. I realised there wasn't any tartare sauce and sent an assistant out to buy some. They returned with powdered tartar which is used to bolster meringues and the like. So I now make my own, including the mayonnaise. I imagine the flavour isn't the same every time as I can't always get all the ingredients I want . Ask a supermarket assistant for anything other than junk food , I.E. dill pickle, capers, gherkins, etc. and all you get in return is the 1000 yard stare. And no, I'm not going to buy in bulk as there's little enough room on the truck and I'm not turning our home , our last bastion of privacy, into a warehouse.
I've just returned from the fish markets I bought yellow fin tuna. White marlin made a late appearance looking decidedly worse for wear and at 600 pesos a kilo it's not going on my menu.
It will soon be time to start baking and to decide on the dessert for today. So, I'll bid you good morning and have a great day.

For some reason I keep reading this thread even though the spelling of "Disgusting" bothers me for some odd reason. It is spelt with 2 cc's in other forms of English and I'm off?

Obviously the guys' action to get so drunk is disturbing, but it seems no one knows the guy personally so assumptions are made that he is an alcoholic which most commenters (including myself) are not qualified to make that diagnosis. Perhaps the stress of his wife's hospital stay, accompanied with living 4 hours away led to a want to be around other expats, made the guy over indulge...maybe the guy hadn't had a drink in years. I can't say as well as most I'd be willing to guess.

Most troubling, why did someone not stand up and try to get him on a trike and back to where he needed to be earlier? Obviously we are not responsible for other peoples actions, but condemning someone while sitting back is pretty sad. A couple dollars worth of peso to get the guy out is a small price to pay. If an attempt was made and he told you to walk off, then you did what you could do.

Coming up in the military and the 10 years since I retired I have made sure folks have gotten home before they got themselves in trouble more times than I can count. Not so much in the Philippines as I do not hang out late around Dumaguete, but even coming back to Korea a few months ago I took it upon myself to get an US contractor out of a bar and into a taxi before he got his drunk a$$ beat down for being stupid, did not know the guy and from what I saw he was a complete f***head. I ended up drinking for free the rest of the night from both other customers and bar staff; and I was able to quietly walk myself to my hotel...

I do not know of any culture where it is acceptable to put your feet on a table at a restaurant...that is just wrong. How many times have folks been at a movie at Robinsons and found some locals feet up next to the seat you are sitting? A few more times than I've seen in other places and that has made me voice my "opinion" on that to them. Same with planes with pretty much every country, that one really gets me twisted.

We need to police ourselves when we are out and about, more so when living/working abroad. It is not my point in this reply to say that anyone needs to put themselves in a position where an idiot would want to cause you harm or be belligerent towards but maybe a bit of a talk and help can get someone where they are not going to make a fool of themselves and add to the impression all expats are drunks and looking for the shady side of the Philippines.

Tried this place tonight. We had the seafood and chicken paella, 4 cheese macaroni and 1 liter of the "Dutertian" Sangria, with a desert, tiramisu, being brought out by the owner. Everything was excellent and the service was top notch.

I really liked that the menu has how many grams of meat/poultry/seafood each dish has in it. Makes tracking my calories/macros much easier and not compete guesswork. I will definitely return.

As for the door issue mentioned in an earlier post: not really an issue. When I rang the doorbell the door opened within a few seconds each time. After I finished eating my fingerprint was added to the biometrics so I won't have to ring the bell again to get in.

Wife and I had a similar experience as Chariot.
We also ordered the fish & chips, BIG MISTAKE.
The fish and the fish better was not cooked all the way. The chips, really french fries was served as WHITE me and as limply as my old, o-ten. We ordered Mayo on the side to dip the fries in. When we inquired as to why it was taking so long we were told that they had to send the cook to Hipper Mart to get the MAYO. When this sorry excuse of a dinner was served, it came with sides Salad dressing, not MAYO. Once I tasted the Salad dressing I spit it out. The cook showed me the jar of MAYO he had just got at Hipper Mart. The label on the jar clearly said "SALAD DRESSING"! We got up and walked out. That has to be the worst restaurant meal we had ever ordered. I do not think it is necessary to say that we will never be back to Sideways.
Went across the street to Flip Flops and had a well prepared tasty dinner.

Had breakfast at Casablanca a few days ago. Gunther is indeed back in Austria and has been for awhile, return date currently unknown. Met the new chef, Jan, from northern Germany. Menu is somewhat new, also simpler due to difficulty of getting anything onto this island, food is better than ever. Highly recommended again.
