I am German, but not nessicarily a lover of german food.
Anyhow, Grumpy’s is the place to go if you love well prepared food and good service.
The menu contains some German dishes as well as international and Philippine cuisine. All freshly cooked with high quality ingredients. They even make their own bread.
I didn’t find a better restaurant in Duma yet in terms of quality and freshness of its products. You can have really nice breakfast, delicious lunch and wide offers of excellent dishes for dinner.
Only negative thing is the location. Very close to main road it’s quit noisy.

Sub-division........dont be fooled by all the lovely brochures, it will be filipino standard (poorly constructed), will also be a lot smaller that you imagine, cannot pick your neighbours, will be drug-dens/havens in a few years time......especially if you are buying from the plans, its possible the area will never be completed, the roads left unfinished, no streetlights, no security guards, no boundary fences/walls..........thats all on the outside, give it a little time, then your doors an windows going to start to warp, and open by themselves, then the electric going to give you grief........and good good good luck trying to contact the builders to fix anything, they will be long gone

What would be the appropriate thing to do with a person like that if the staff doesn't know who the guy is or where he lives? Call the police? They have better things to do than deal with a drunk loser. (I'd personally pay the P15 for a trike to take him to the hospital and let him wake up in the ER with a large medical bill, or at the very least just dump him on the steps of the hospital.
)
You were introduced to him by someone? I assume a friend of his? Why not give him a call and tell him to come deal with the pathetic loser and then tell him to never introduce you to any more of his friends.-

- Thread: Bert's Sushi
Big family birthday lunch at Bert's in Bacong. Just as good as it was when he had his weekly menu back at Gigi's. My favorites (in order) tempura shrimp, seared tuna, salmon sushi, shrimp sushi, mixed sushi, teriyaki chicken. A small sesame salad appetizer is tasty.

- Thread: "LOKAL" New restaurant in Dauin
tuba-coma DI Forum Adept Showcase Reviewer
Recently a new restaurant opened in Dauin, named "Lokal", easy to find, just at the right side of the highway 500m before you reach Dauin town center. owner is a nice guy from Britain, but there are no british dishes on the menue card, it is asian cuisine; popular dishes from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, even Laos, and some favorites from the Philippines. Wife had fish curry and was very pleased, I was very satisfied with my slow-cooked Rendang. I also liked the rice, not so sticky like in other places. A big surprise was the cucumber salad, it was prepared with a nice sour salad sauce, for those who like such. Good price range, good value for the money, good service and a very nice ambience with stylish bamboo furniture and a beautiful garden around. Definitely a place worth to visit.

New open now, they offer a buffett with all kinds of meats and seafood, that you can prepare yourself with a hotpot on your table. Don't expect too much fresh fish, there were Shrimps, the other seafood was more the Fishball-type. Some dishes like Chicken Curry were also available, and some interesting pumpkin-stuff. It still seems to be chinese orientated, regarding the spices they offer. All you can eat is the deal, we payed 399p for lunch, you can stay up to 2 hours, enough to fill the stomach. Even softdrinks, icecream and some pastries are included, really generous. Wife and I were absolutely satisfied with the range of offers and the quality. I recommend that place, specially if you are really hungry. Location Boulevard / St.Juan street, near Bo's Coffee.

- Thread: Shaka Hawaiian Restaurant
Has anybody else tried the new Shaka Hawaiian place yet? I went by a couple of times but it was so packed I didn't try to stop. But the other day I passed by and it was nearly empty, it was 1:30 and I didn't have lunch yet, so it was a chance to check it out. It was a nice day and being right on the ocean and completely open and having a Hawaiian decor and playing Hawaiian music the ambience was wonderful. I was so hopeful for good food, but totally disappointed. We tried the baked scallop appetizer and my wife tried first and then said "do not eat this". I had to try for myself, and quickly spit it out into a napkin. We sent it back. Of the other four dishes we ordered, we sent two of them back. The fish and chips had a thick hard coating that was like cement, I could literally almost not bite through it. I put it on my plate and smacked it with my knife to break it open. Inside the fish was cold and slimy and raw. I waived to our waiter and showed it to him, he said, "our fish is very juicy sir" ... I said that is not juicy it is raw and gross. We had already paid our bill and were in the process of leaving when our server came running over to our table and brought the coconut shrimp appetizer we had ordered. I forgot all about it in the kerfuffle with the other bad food. I asked was that already on the bill I just paid, they said yes, I said refund my money for that and take that back to the kitchen, which they did. Terrible service, even worse food, really too bad.

Wife and I shared an Angus Rib Eye steak and schrimp gambas. Both very good. Good food and drinks menu. Prices pretty good. New restaurant along sea road between Petron station and Paddy’s store in Bacong poblacion. Beautiful setting with dining indoors, veranda or lawn tables with umbrellas. Tastefully converted beach house. Parking on street. Sign in front of driveway. Pictures on their Facebook.

Visited Sideways bar last night. Must be well known to many of you here, but first time we've ventured inside since arrival.
The music was good and loud, the food good, the clientele friendly and the owners just right, genuinely welcoming and accommodating. Nice place; nice people; good facilities; good food; good music.....what more could you want?
Enjoyed the evening and will definitely be back there.-
