First time at Latino, it opened already a while ago. Mostly Spanish and Italian food and also some Asian style, always sounds good. Located at the National south road in Dumaguete, just a door in the wall from outside, but when we went inside we were really positively surprised. Very nice ambience, decorative items everywhere, chinese style red balloon lamps makes it a cozy place to stay. The food was simply great, asawa had Spaghetti Carbonara with ribs and was very happy, couldn't finish the huge portion, take-out was no problem. My Thai chicken with peanuts and veggies was also great. Short waiting time for serving about 20 minutes, perfect. We got each a complimentary Sangria home made style, I do not drink that stuff normally, but this was nice because it was not too sweet. All that fresh cooked food ended with a very reasonable, not to say cheap bill. A really satisfying dining experience, unexpected. Had a talk with the owner, a nice guy from Barcelona in Spain, he is obviously running his spot with passion. Conclusion: After the Spanish colonized the Philippines for about 400 years, they are back; but for much better purposes :-)

Tried Grump’s for the first time. Extensive menu looked so good I had lunch and ordered a takeout for dinner, great service, fast and friendly, and the food very good. Bread, pasta, sauces, etc made daily.
Now my favorite restautant on the south side.- Like x 4

Coffee groove is on the bacong to valencia rd around 1km from the top on left side.
Dropped by today as a few people had mentioned it was good, very nice coffee but a limited menu for food but what they had was very good. Not bad for prices either.
Very nice cold aircon with pleasant background music for a change.
Highly recomended.

- Thread: thunder road
there was a thread on here about thunder road a few months back. i have veen stoping by there occasionally, it is almost always very dead, i am usually teh only one there. i always wondered why, as it seemed a great little getaway, nice grounds and pool ok food, cold beer. i stooped in there late saturday night, there was a good live band going and lots of people. everyone was habing a good time, it seemed. i was sitting about two stoolds down from the aussie owners wife, who was very drunk. a guy came down and asked about a pack of cigaretts he had left on the bar, she imediatly blew up, and started screeching about him accusing her of stealing his pack of cigaretts. He did no such thing, he just asked politely if anyone had seen them. the aussie owner came down, i thought to see what the ruckes was about, as she was screeching at the top of her lungs. instead of askng any questions of what was going on, he just told the guy to F**CK OFF, get out of there. she was still screeching when i left about 15 minutes later.
i gues i understand now why there is seldom anybody going there. i wont be going back.- Informative x 7

- Thread: restro bars how many is enough?
Hi, if what i hear is true the black pearl is about to open again, ill leave it to the new owner to tell his story. Starting from Robinson,s heading towards Bacong their is 11 foreign owned places to eat and drink before the city limits , how many is enough and how many think they can survive ,as i see it the person that owns the building is the one making the money and if i owned such a sight i would lease to an expat and sit back and watch him work 14 hours a day in order to make ends meet.

My fiancee and I finally got our small food place up and running in Bacong as there seems to be a lack of food choices for those of us out here who want something but don't want to run into the city. Its only a small place and we have only been open a week but our menu will be growing. We also have free wifi.
Menu to date: Fajita wrap, Taco wrap, filipino burger, burger deluxe, fries (flavor options), halo-halo (our own nice halo2x, not any of that nasty bean crap and ube, its *different*), and of course soda's. We are looking to hopefully add Red Horse and San Mig as soon as I can talk Ecil into letting me get another ref. Hopefully as well within the next week or two our menu will grow a bit more.
Location: Go past the park from Dumaguete 3 streets and turn right (Leon Kilat st opposite side of the highway from the beach). Down the corner 2 blocks and will see our place on the right.
If your in the area and hungry stop by and give is a try. Open 10am-8pm

Well sort of.... A new French Food Restaurant in Bacong, about 30 meters short of the 7 Km marker on the South Highway. Takkris Road Shack... hmmm... not an elegant French sounding name but the food was excellent. A small little informal
place with a large porch like structure facing the hiway. It was a new pleasant surprise recommended to me by a French Couple living in the Bacong Area. The menu includes Pates, Salads, Meat dishes,Sandwiches and Desserts. A rather informal mix of food but just plain excellent tasting stuff. We had both a Pasta dish and Pate sandwich. Light meals but just lite up my taste buds, and of coarse close to my home in Bacong. Our meal was just 240 for two including soft drinks. If you are heading south on the highway it is worth trying for the food. Just look for the yellow marker signs and follow your way to the 7 Km marker, the restaurant is about 35 meters south of marker.

Just wanted to let you know if anyone is interested Zac's Place bakes great bread rolls and other bakery items. Last week he baked Chelsea Buns...an English friuted bun scroll. They were full of fruit and absolutely delishious....couldn't stop eating them lol.
I think you would need to ask Russell when they are next on the menu. I plan to order 6 on his next bake!- Like x 3
