Actually a bit more relaxed than that.. I put down 10:30 opening but I'm usually there long before that, as for closing, it gets very quiet after 7pm and sitting around, empty, just burning fuel is frustrating so we go home by 7.30pm. But if there's people to serve then we stay open till whenever.

Seems the relatively rare menu wasn't all that popular. Expats are an extremely unreliable source of income when it comes to restaurants. Cheap Charlies the vast majority of them are. Nothing wrong with that of course...it's just really hard to sustain western food standards when people aren't willing to pay for it. D*mn that free market!

If you wish to try your luck in the courts here go right ahead. I'm curious how someone could defame an anonymous person online, what reputation or damages could an anonymous person have. It is also a requirement to mitigate damages...and identifying yourself in any such lawsuit would significantly increase those damages. I suggest you speak with a lawyer if you wish to move forward with such a lawsuit.

Also, no one called you scum, it was stated that there are plenty of scum foreigners in the Philippines...if you decided to wear those shoes and lace them up, well, that's on you.

I see the creep (not fast, just a slow creep) towards modernising laws in relation to the public good. It would be great if the noise regulations, which already exist, are enforced and strengthened. Even as a dog-lover (in the best possible sense) I think dog noise should be controlled - not tying them up on a 1m leash or in a 2 sq m cage would help - but as it is a major burglar deterrent I see little hope. Motor bike noise should be an easier one - just an official mobile roadside crusher should do the trick.

Yes indeed it's a very good point. I'm not going to go on about the ridiculous driving, motorcycles without baffles in their exhausts because they think it's cool. They don't realise how idiotic they are as it is detrimental to the bike's performance, etc.
I will say that we're in the process of doing something about it. All being well we are moving to the back corner, on the same side. Hopefully get a bar fitted to the back of the vehicle. We'll have decent furniture and protection from any overspray from the car wash and cover from the sun and rain.. It's all down to finances but traffic noise and barking dogs are the bane of my life.

Some deserved negative comments here about certain guests and their behaviour .... but it is very noticeable how many postings on this thread are from very decent human beings .... important to remember that the bad ones are just a minority.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY ORVILLE... You have a great place, the best "jerk chicken, rice and bread on the Island" Your passion for serving the best you can is second to none. But.... your adoption of the school in Valencia and your desire to raise funds to help the children there (although admirable) is in some ways hurting your business. When regulars patronize your restaurant you come out as you always do, greet them, check on their meal and make sure all is to yours and their standards.
You also bring up the school and your passion to help them and ask for donations and that makes some people uncomfortable for a couple reasons. Many customers are on a fixed income and can't afford to donate and feel embarrassed and uncomfortable being asked. Others come for the food only (it's great) and actually don't care about a school in Valencia. They are there for the food, service and pleasant banter only.
I have been here a while (8 years) and am a very positive upbeat guy. If I can make a suggestion please. Make a flyer up and have it on display for all to see and take if they are so inclined. It can be included with the bill after some one eats and is ready to pay and leave. You work FB well, DI is also is a good medium for all to see whats going on in your time away from the restaurant.
To coin a phrase..separate church from state. Take care of business as you do as well as anyone I have ever met here and your personal goals and charities would be best served outside the walls of your restaurant.
I know I will get a new a%^hole ripped into me for this post, but if I have heard this from several people in the last couple weeks then many others have also. I apologize in advance if I hurt your feelings . Gerry

Sounds like she is intimidated by expats to me...especially unpredictable drunk ones. Can't really blame her for that. The night managers at Why Not are better equipped to deal with the drunks than the daytime restaurant staff/managers.

I think it is getting to the point to where we, the expat community, need to start policing ourselves and letting those that act like twats know that they, and their antics, are not welcome. Landlords need to deny rent and evict drunks and problem starters. There will always be a landlord that will take money from a drunk and tolerate them but those places should be only suitable for squatters. Bar owners (aka legal drug dealers) should be held partially liable for feeding these drunks addiction and for any damage they may cause to other people. Note: Bar owners should not be held responsible for any injury or damage a drunk does on to themselves...that would only enable drunks and allow them to pass the blame for their own demise on to others. Alcoholics should be completely liable for the damage they cause to themselves and to others...and if they hurt someone else the bar should have to match whatever the addict had to pay out to the 3rd party.

It is getting ridiculous in the Philippines with the quality of expats coming in. I really think the Philippines should shorten their allowed tourist visa stay to 6 months or less and create a new type of resident visa for those that are single and can prove they have enough money to live comfortably in the country. Anyone proven to be a drug addict (this includes alcoholics), even if on a resident visa, should be shown the door and blacklisted for at least a year.

Par for the course. She's not going to put her safety on the line (dealing with drunks) for a bunch of long noses or their business. She should have called the police, had them remove him and throw him in a cell until he sobers up (which he should have to pay rent for at around P1k/hour until he is able to blow a 0.00 on a breathalyzer) but she probably didn't want to have to deal with the repercussions of police reports or possibly having to show up in court as a witness. If the owner isn't alright with this he should retrain the manager or hire a new one with more experience. If the owner doesn't care.....then I guess you should find somewhere else to eat at.

Was there anything stopping you from calling the police? You could have called them and said there was a medical emergency (the guy had alcohol poisoning). Have him sent to the hospital via ambulance, which surely would have pissed him off when he came to and had to pay the bill.

If this 911 thing actually starts to work I will certainly be using it to "save the life" of many passed out drunks. Better safe than sorry I say....f*ck what it costs the drunks, not my problem.

The first map shows Adamo and Alima. The best way to locate them is to go to Silliman Hospital (most know that location), look for the 7 Eleven opposite and to the left (with your back to the hospital) and use the map below.

Salaya is signposted (left turn) from the South Highway BEFORE Dauin coming from Dumaguete. It is signed from that road. See the second map below. Adamo and Alima.PNG Salaya.PNG

That was my initial reaction to the picture as well. However, there is a group of expats there that are complete knobheads and arrogant twats to boot. Would love to see them ran out of Valencia.
