The land might be cheaper but the hospital bills (either yours or whoever you hit) will make up the difference for paying a bit more somewhere else. They really need to put some lighting on that road going south. I refuse to drive at night down there because of how dangerous it is. Valencia is the best and safest option in my opinion.

I think one misconception that people have is that every person who uses drugs turns into an addict. That simply isn't the case. The average addiction rate for drugs is around 20% (some are less some - such as Weed/LSD/Ecstasy/Shrooms - and some are more - Cocaine/Heroine) if I remember correctly. There are far more people who use drugs - such as alcohol/weed/ecstasy - responsibly than there are addicts. Imagine if we just threw every alcoholic in jail for simply being an alcoholic - aka a drug addict (which would be a horrible idea because they could die from the physical withdrawal symptoms).
People tend to forget that they themselves are likely drug users. It just so happens that your drug of choice is legal....and it isn't that way because it is the least harmful drug available. Alcohol is far more damaging to the body and society than weed could ever be. So if you sit down in the afternoon and have a few beers, well congratulations, you are a responsible recreational drug user. And this is how the majority of other "heavy" drugs are used as well.
The large majority of addicts also suffer from some form mental illness (aside from the addictions). You can't talk sense into people who are addicts and mentally ill...well you can, but that sense won't stick around for long. It isn't the drugs that cause this, it is the addiction and mental illness. The drug is irrelevant, if it isn't one drug it would be another one that they would be addicted to. Some people are just prone to addiction because of preexisting conditions. Locking them up for it does absolutely no good and solves nothing.
Edit:
"Drugs kill your feelings, you do not care about anything else, than how to get more drugs"
That is complete nonsense.-

- Thread: Senior Citizen Card
Sounds like there are quite a few that feel they are above the law. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite them in the @ss. Remember this is a public forum and anyone could be reading this thread. Admitting that you are breaking a law that could lead to your arrest, imprisonment and deportation (but not before being locked up in the expat jail to wait for your deportation hearings/appeals...which could be a death sentence for anyone old enough to get a senior citizen discount) is not the brightest thing to be doing.

- Thread: RE: HOOKUPS
I just realized this was a continuation from the original "hookups" thread you started that I locked. That's a big no-go. You posts are obscene and disrespectful and have wasted my time with moderator actions. This is the last moderator action I take on your account.
Please do not dox anyone or make threats to do so. Thanks.

- Thread: Giving money to child beggars
Not to disagree but maybe consider taking the fruit. The reason they go through the trouble of giving something for the money is that they do not want to be consider education beggars. They are in sales. But not taking the fruit makes it seem kind of like begging BUT I may be very wrong so I just say it as something to consider. Maybe I don’t need what they sell either and they just want to sell it so I buy it, and usually eat it, ultimately, I guess. :blahblah&.

- Thread: Working wives
I am working 4 days a week (not a happy job) and guess what, after four years of being inseparable with my bf, — eating together, watching the same shows together, (he even puts the tv on pause when I go pee) drink and eat out together, take walks, picnic, trips every now and then, do photography, cook, and it sounds pretty awesome but I found myself wanting to do things that he doesn’t do so I started taking evening/weekend classes at an American University and it helped.

okiebound has been a valuable contributor of QUALITY information for very many years. She has helped many members directly and indirectly. Rather than feel sorry for her we respect her important contribution to many topics here and the post by Notmyrealname has politely given you a very good suggestion. I believe you have not correctly understood her first post in this string and indeed you are both of the same belief on the topic, but I am sure many members, like me, will be concerned with your apparent aggression with words like "drama queen".-

NO face mask, only a full face respirator-type with adequate filters, is 100% sure to stop viruses. But better an N95 than nothing.
People also need to be aware that microbes, including the Coronavirus, can enter the body by hand transmission through touching the mouth or eyes. A study showed that people touch their faces about 20 times per hour!
So first stage is to wear a mask now if you feel better, keep your hands frequently washed and avoid potential areas of risk - like Chinese New Year parties.
The final stage, if the virus becomes pandemic (infects the whole world) and has a high death rate (sometimes those that spread the fastest do not kill the most) is to self-isolate. This means to stay in your home! Avoid visitors, but if any do arrive then greet from a distance with a mask on, send them away asap and wash your hands. This is a very serious step to take but it may be the only way to reduce the risk from, perhaps, 50% to almost (and possibly) zero.
The flu pandemic of 1919 affected 500 million people and killed 50 million (these are only estimates and could be higher) - and think how infrequently people travelled in those days and how much lower and less-crowded the world population was!-

- Thread: Best place in Dumaguete to live?
ChMacQueen DI Forum Patron Highly Rated Poster Showcase Reviewer Veteran Army
Have you stayed in Dumaguete before for a decent period? Where have you stayed in the Philippines because if its like Cebu city or worse being Manila its a poor comparison. Depending where you lived before and enjoyed you might hate Dumaguete (or love it).
Now what are you looking for? What you want or can do w/o makes all the difference on what places to avoid. However DO stay away from anything within the flood zone of the river... don't be that fool! Anyways if you want good internet (as far as what is available) you need to be 300 meters from a major road PLDT has fiber on and make sure they have a slot available. If you want quiet that is NOT very close to a trafficked road (main road, major road, or shortcut road).... and watch out for all the animals like roosters, goats, etc etc. Do you want super close beach access because that tends to mean crap internet and double price as well for that trade off. Do you want to be close to decent places to eat or are you happy eating at home and barely go out?
We can't really say what you'd like. I know guys I think are nuts for what they like and they think I'm nuts for what I like. Depends which kind of nut you are.-
