I wrote about this....they put her on a list.... I even know the fast food outlet..... but this is not something new.....it is done at a lot of places in town.....a form of slavery....BUT NOBODY CARES.... they pass minimum wage laws....then ignore them.....you complain and you are out of work.... the ground crew of PAL went on strike....PAL fired them all and hired new people..... laws mean nothing unless someone enforces them..... half the problems in the Philippines could be corrected over night....just by enforcing the laws on the books.....
I see several threads on here about improving things or solving problems..... the ONLY people who "can" solve problems or improve things....are Filipinos.....and until they decide they want it changed.....WE .... foreigners.....can not do anything....... I have and still am trying to create a JOINT organization of foreigners and Filipinos with an eye to improve and change things for BOTH of us.....improve the quality of life for ALL of us.... everybody smiles and pats me on the back BUT NOBODY STEPS UP AND JOINS.....and without Filipinos it is just a gripe session with no chance of getting anything done

But of we keep thinking like this it will become like we had back home! Why did we move here? It was because of the bull sh*t and red tape amongst other crap!
If it becomes like our world back home we just as well be back there.
Yes there are things we could improve here without all the western bullshit!-

Go see Mike Berovic in Sibulan. You are actually very lucky to be here with his services so close by. Berovic Chiropractic Clinic
He fixed my back and neck problem i had for over 30 years. If he needs X-ray he will send you to Silliman, if he needs you to see a dr he will send you to Silliman or better. But if he can help you he will, and he probably will help you I am sure.-

I was posting quite a bit some years ago when were building our house, which led to great conversations and some truly good friends that we met along the way.
Not as much to post now, other than a few projects on the house here and there (I do need to update a few previous posts as things were completed).
Really do thank the many posters as we've found some nice restaurants and places to find things we were looking for that would have been more difficult without this forum.

While those numbers are nice for a quiet home body who already has a partner for the rest its no where near accurate. If your new you won't have transportation and may very well hate taking jeepneys and easyrides hence taking trikes far more often. Transportation costs for a semi active single guy can easily jump to a couple thousand a month. If your looking for nicer food and not fine eating cheap most meals groceries can easily jump to $15k a month when your dipping into anything not local. Eating out can get very expensive if your not a home body, single, and going out a lot also as you surely won't be eating like a local but spending anywhere from 100-300p per meal per person. If you don't have your own furniture and not looking to spend to buy all of your own then your looking for a fully furnished place which usually runs 15-18k a month (yet some of these come with free internet and cable already). I would also say more then $1500 a month for visa renewal since its $3k now to renew every 2 months but at 6 months and a year there are additional costs that can take your renewal up to $7k peso's. Then you'll need to also be planning an exit ticket come your 3 year mark (fortunately its now 3 years instead of 16 months) which requires an exit clearance, travelers tax, round trip ticket to another country, throw away exit ticket to another country. But what about electronics, gadgets, buying a ride, and a future lady? You'll be spending a bit on cloths for her, you'll probably want a decent phone for yourself and potentially her as well. Maybe you'll want a computer, laptop, tablets? Maybe you'll want a motorcycle? How about going out to the movies or swimming at a nice pool or hot springs?
For those who have been here a long time and settled into the way things are and learned to live in a mix between a foreigner and a local they can do it fairly cheap. For newer guys or single guys (especially newer single guys) its rarely ever the case.
I'd say for right now someone should want at least 60k peso's to live semi comfortably as a single or with just a GF. But soon as you start adding in family and such expenses start going up quickly more often then not.-

Main Problem as I see it is we should STOP thinking about what OUR country was/is like and concentrate with what we have to work with.
There is a lot out there that can be done but we have to start thinking here, how can we utilize things. Improve and educate others.

Be careful with promoting Valencia as a nice place to live. The more the expat community grows there the less appealing it will become. I remember when I didn't have to put up with hearing/seeing a bunch of loud/stupid/drunk foreigners. That time has long passed and now I send someone to go buy food at the market for me whenever possible to avoid having that "what's your name/how long have you been here/where do you live/you're sitting in my seat (no, you don't own this seat at this restaurant you f*cking tw*t)/herpderp we're drunk morons, wanna engage in a ridiculously moronic conversation with us?" nonsense. Also, the more idiots that move in the more the locals will try to raise the longnose price on everyone.-
