Tuition and books for grade 6 is php 50,000, plus uniforms and class and PE shoes.

Note: Not complaining, just sharing information what a private school can cost in Dumaguete

    I don't know.
There is a method in which to build Kitchen Cabinets and have them as near to Termite Proof as it gets, the carcasses are made with steel studs and then a 4.5mm Hardiflex is screwed on to that both sides, the only wood involved is inside the steel at the front to enable me to screws the hinges on and to have a second crack at it if the first screws fail, you can rely on the metal by itself to fix the hinges on to but in event of a failure it means you have to reposition the hinge on the door and carcass.
There is 8 units in total 3x 1000mm units, 2 x 500mm units, 2 times 300mm and one full drawer unit, 2x600mm spaces for a free standing Cooker and Fridge. the wood that was added was soaked in Solignum and the cavity in the partitions had some Borax and Boric acid added to them to give assisted protection to the wood inside, I will attach a few pics of this to give some idea how it looks half way through the job, total cost up till now is P15K I expect another 5to7K will see the job done? Also there will be one of a simple ladder 11ft high which cost P2250 to make myself, this is as strong as you can buy here with closer than normal treads IMG_1367.JPG IMG_1370.JPG IMG_1371.JPG ong as anything you can buy here with closer than normal treads.

My wife and I went shopping yesterday or should I say tried to go shopping, Hypermarket first, only limited amount of people allowed in, one out one in so the result is a long line of people standing outside in the sun.
Gave up on that and went to Robinsons, same policy there but at least the line was inside and managed like a game of musical chairs, this meant you could move every now and then to a chair someone had just vacated and during the wait you can suck up the free air con.
I am not a medical expert but I would think if you want to avoid the virus the best way is to do your shopping as quickly as possible then go home not spend hours in the vicinity of other people.
The guard told us the shop opens at 10am and people had started queueing at 7.30am.
We did not bother with Citymall but I presume it was the same.
Anyway it will increase the business of the small shops as we and I think a lot of other people went to them and got most of the things we wanted there.

This report had been confirmed by PNP that 3 separate stabbing incidents had happened around the city. The 3 suspects are riding a Smash motorcycle and what they do is just to randomly stab anyone they see. The 3 stabbing incidents happened around 12:00 am and the 3 victims were stabbed with ice picks as the suspects would just drive by aboard their Smash motorcycle. Just be careful. These 3 suspects could be drug addicts, who knows? Why should they do that? Don't get confused---there are 3 suspects and there had been 3 victims already.

Having not found any mail in my Dumaguete City Post Office box or no word on my package that arrived in Manila 21 days ago, i finally found the Postmaster in his second floor office. Thought i'd pass along this info, hoping that it is correct...

The problem is that the contract between PhilPost and TransPac airlines (i think i got the name right) to deliver mail to the provinces expired two weeks ago and while the new contract is being negotiated, voila, NO MAIL... (DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT ask why philpost waited until after the contract expired)...

Apparently in the meantime, there is a sea container in Cebu now with mail for several post offices waiting to be opened, separated, and delivered. Maybe if we're lucky, we'll see mail in a week. And also DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT pull the usual foreigner rant and yell at Vickie or Jun-Jun, remember, the fault is in manila, not here, i think... (will federalism change anything?)....

    Hello everyone,

Ive been buying fruits in the public market in Dumaguete before and when l found out that fruit vendors are using artifical ripening i am shocked and since then l never buy fruits inside the market again. What they usually do is put CALBURO in a water then they wash the fruits in there.

Did you know that CALBURO contains calcium carbide that causes cancer?

Calburo ripens fruits especially banana but its very toxic for human body.! Acetylene (Yes the gas used in some forms of welding). The resulting ripe fruit is very toxic. It causes cancer due to carcinogenic properties of calcium carbide. Acetylene is also extremely reactive and traces of it can produce blisters and mouth ulcer if it comes with contact with skin and mouth.
Accidentally, the nicest lookimg fruit are the more likely to be ripped with calcium carbide, while the imperfect ones (some black spots and black stem on bananas for example) are more likely to be naturally ripened.

Ill post some links later here to help you more aware of every fruit you're eating.
This is illegal. Vendors who are practicing this should be imprisoned.

Gf was called in to a meeting at her kids school so they could try to solicit them to buy into a SCAM. It costs 25,000 Pesos!

It is some nonsense about Midbrain Activation. A quick Google search shows there are plenty of websites claiming this nonsense works and plenty more idiots buying into it.

It looks like this one originated in India (a huge red flag by itself). Reading a few of these websites they reference the "aura" and "third eye". The"doctor" pushing this has also written a book claiming ESP is real.

    Midbrain Activation – A Scam | Nirmukta

This is some group going around to the schools in Dumaguete trying to convince parents it is real. Some schools are calling in parents to come listen to it. Absolutely ridiculous on the school administration's part.

Shouldn't be too surprised given that this is the Philippines education system we are talking about....but this should be downright illegal. Someone should put a stop to this nonsense before gullible and naive people waste their money on it.

Our helper has just given birth to a healthy baby boy at the provincial Hospital. She went in last Sunday evening with the onset of labor, and after an extremely prolonged and problematic labor it was decided that a C-section was necessary to prevent further distress to mother and child. She had the operation at 6am on Tuesday and all went well. She was duly moved to the maternity ward to recover.
I made my first visit to see the new arrival that same afternoon. Previously I had only been outside the maternity block, which was pretty grim, having accessed it through the old part of the hospital, which was also as unpleasant as I had expected.
However, to my surprise, the maternity unit is in the new building, and that amazingly is nicer than Silliman and light years better than Holy Child, where our daughter was born. Our helper was in a very pleasant 2-bed semi-private room with en-suite CR and was as nice as I've seen anywhere. She was also advised by the OB-Gyn to join Phil Health, this being after the birth. This was duly done, at a cost of 2,500 pesos.
Den was finally discharged late last night (Saturday). This involved a lot of running around with paperwork from one place to another by the father but the end result when we finally handed them over to the cashier was that we owed nothing. I still haven't quite figured that out as Den wasn't even a member of PhilHealth when she gave birth but I wasn't about to argue. So the total expenditure during her stay only came to a couple of thousand pesos in prescription meds for her six-day confinement. All in all a very pleasant surprise and both mother and child were well cared for.

I was amazed to see an LTO check point today on the Hwy from Dmgte to Valencia. stopping M/C's for safety and noise violations. Then before lunch they moved it to just outside of Valencia. I was happy to see that they stopped and detained the guy who rides the green extra loud drag type M/C by my house several times a day and night.

"In a television interview last week, Mayor Ipe Remollo said that starting tomorrow till Friday, August 15 - 19, sidewalks painted green will be off-limits to motorcycles, pedicabs, 4-wheeled vehicles and vendors. The green sidewalks will solely be for pedestrians to walk on. This will be an "information dissemination week" and no fines will be charged yet.

Starting next Monday, August 22, violators will be penalized.

Let's observe and see if tinuod ba gyud ni!"

Note: It may be easier to find Pokeman than find a green sidewalk in Dumaguete but you will not miss them you see them. When the paint wears off you can park on them.
To help identify "pedestrians" it is suggest you wear green shirts so you are not run over by the locals.
