Maybe they need to designate an island as a prison and interdict it. Guard it with Cessnas armed with machineguns and radar buoys. Maybe if Jolo were a little more distant from other islands, it would make a good prison, killing two birds with one stone.

So I've heard there are 50,000 iligals from the ph in the UK, they are not hounded like some are here. If they are caught they are treated with respect and even when imprisoned they are fed with comfortable beds and good food until deported.
    And again unlike the ph!
The legal ones nearly have the same rights as any UK citizen have, they pay their stamp and taxes and they get treated with respect by the UK. In general the Filipinos who are there have a pretty good life albeit only a 2 year visa but can return if they wish.
The ones I knew in my small town all lived in a rented house and shared the bills, they sent most of their money to their families back here.
Maybe one day the ph will get the drift and respect us also like they do when they are in our country's.

Just kidding boyos. But I’d really like to. Here’s the scoop: DTI blotter submitted. The icing on the cake is the Intellectual Property Law. Ye cannae slap a tampered Yamaha serial on a Chinese product. End of. She that costs me P7k on retainer pm as my legal rep filed today.

Now I’m a kindly soul. But the phone went unanswered, the Bleddy place is ‘temporarily closed’ due to COVID Restrictions and they put my Crew at risk. Had to call the Coastguard for a tow. Which will cost, but Mr Buggerlugs will pay for and no time like the present. Served at 11.16am this morning. Get outta that one ye daft loaf.

The wheels of justice turn slowly in our neck, but ‘ave done this before for a pretty party of Manila Suits (buy me a beer n I will tell you a tale). So the ‘axles’ have been ‘greased’. Natch. Time to light a Cigar, stand back, sip a G ‘n’ T and enjoy the circus. I call this sport. No point getting wound up about it. If I cause a headache, job done. That will teach the eejit come what may. Borrowing a well known engine manufacturers tampered stamp and a well copyrighted internet symbol for a business name is big trub.

    Cheers all.

Just for clarification, meningoccemia is a bacterial infection. It's endemic in the Philippines, and although uncommon, cases pop up from time to time including in the Visayas. There were a few cases reported last October in Luzon. There is a vaccine available, which the Dept. of Health is considering as part of their recommended vaccination program.
Totally unrelated to the new coronavirus concerns.

Well...I agree saying a country or a group of people are stupid is a not a good generalization. I also agree that you have to lower expectations when living in the Philippines. I do not agree that common sense or customer service is common in the Philippines.

I'll tag along with the pizza scenario; I wanted a pizza, no mushrooms...I find them nasty little things that remind me of slugs. Was told they could not do that...WTF? I'm asking for a pizza with a less ingredient, not asking to replace it with something else. Actually had to have the manager come out and agree to make the pizza without mushrooms. Customer service...no, plus the pizza sucked.

Growing up, I actually worked at 3 different pizza joints, 2 are chains and I guarantee the only thing we ever pre-made was sauce and cheese and that was only when we knew a rush would be coming on. Obviously that was many years ago, but making a pizza is not exactly rocket science. The size of many these places are not capable of making and storing all pre-made pizzas.

Stating that ordering food that is not made to what the customer would like being "rules or policy" would reinforce the lack of common sense when it comes to a basic business practice.

I tend to believe that most expats staying in the Philippines do go with the "flow" more often than not and recommendations of bad service & food or great service & food goes a long way. Obviously we are a small minority of folks that visit establishments but I try to hit up places with the wife that folks recommend and we have found some gems and customer service is big for both of us.

Unfortunately the vocal ones seem to not be happy about anything or the ones looking how rosy things are and defend everything; the rest of us are just chilling out.

The link wasn't deleted from the forum. The actual Facebook post was either deleted or made private. I had nothing to do with that.

My opinion on when dead bodies should be shown....it's complicated. I think it should always be a last resort and be beneficial to educating someone on an individual basis. Example: my GF is hard headed about wearing a helmet (no pun intended). I can talk until I'm blue in the face and she will resist....but if I start forcing pictures or videos of people having accidents and getting horrible mutilated/disfigured/killed (preferably with the accident being no fault of their own because she thinks she's a good driver and accidents can only happen if she is at fault ) on her then she starts to come around....at least for a week or two. That doesn't mean I agree with the common 3rd world practice of posting that crap on social media, I don't, but those images can serve a valid purpose. There are websites out there that claim to serve this specific purpose, though I'm not sure I believe the owners are operating those sites for the reasons claimed. (Mainly because they have absolutely zero concern about getting consent from any involved person' in the images.)

    A bit off topic now.

Remember that many/most expats that go to the Philippines are trailer park quality people. $860 per month would make them feel right at home.

$860 should allow a person to scrape by until the first time life happens and a big expense comes around (hospital, accident, legal trouble)....then you can turn into the average sack of sh*t expat who borrows money and never pays it back. Coming on such a limited budget with no ability to make more money is stupid and completely irresponsible. I suspect you are about 60-70% disabled...don't sit around being a bum, get a job with the government or a contracting company and build yourself an actual legitimate retirement you can live off of.

Pretty sure he wasn't in the 'life savings into property' category. The guy was a drunk, moved out with his Filipina GF a month ago then moved back in 2 days later without her. Would get drunk and walk around the apartment yelling even when he was alone. I am sure you have seen him, he was the guy between my apartment and the apartment you helped move a few months ago.

Was doing his 'normal' nightly drunken yelling crap but took it outside the couple nights before, the night before starting about 2am he started terrorizing my wife (I am in the US for 10 days), banging on our door, yelling through the bedroom window, blocking our door with his bicycle and sticks of bamboo. She called the landlady who came out about 4:30am with her husband and told him to go inside and quiet down. Was generally quiet after that. Sometime mid morning my wife heard a ruckus and looked to find the landlady in the parking area looking at the guy on the ground. He had climbed the water tank and jumped. Was alive when the ambulance got him.

Driving in Dumaguete is a learning experience in itself. I consider myself a very good driver since I drive for a living but I was not prepared for the lack of rules when I first came here and started driving a motorcycle. I did find that after a while there was some sort of secret right away granted to bigger moving vehicles  I drove a car for a while too and that is maybe safer but far more challenging in the city. Motorcycles are the quick and easy way around the city but certainly it takes some time to learn the non rules like Ceres Liners are no fun to travel behind
