I would suggest trying another LTO office like Bais where the small town atmosphere is more friendly to foreigner$

Meh, every time they strike a peace deal with one of these Muslim groups they always have a bunch split off and form another that still wants to fight. It will never end. Sometimes peace is not the solution. They need a stronger military presence down in Mindanao.

I think it should stay as is and let drivers make a bit more. At the snail pace of change here by the time it is lowered gas prices will be up again. I always pay 10-20 depending on how far and good driver. Why is it so little to go to town but alot to go out from town back home? Always a negotiation to go home. Walking has become a nice hobby.

We went up Mount Talinis yesterday, drove mostly as far the track could go. Then hiked up the rest of the way, not to the summit but high enough. It was like half jungle with foot-paths that went in all directions that the locals use. Wife's friends come with us too and went to there relatives house. What a great view, I could see Dumaguete City and the sea. Cebu island in the distance. We couldn't see the peak of the volcano because of the mist.
First time I'v been that far up the mountain, great experience and to see how the mountain people live
Thought I would be stiff this morning due to the hiking but I feel great.
Must be the keto diet I'm on.

Finally! Only 7 months after the shooting and killing of a councilor in Bayawan, the suspected triggerman is arrested. The arrest was made possible because friends and the family of the victim & people of authority have formed a special group to make a thorough follow up of the case. The special task force is named after the victim, the late Councilor Tizon.

Now that they have the suspected gunman, the next thing the authorities need to do is to make this guy sing. Who hired him to do the job? Etc

Oopsie—-I shared the link of the story but FB seemed to have removed it.. I will try again.

For those of you looking to avoid the panic buying lines in the supermarkets, there is now online grocery shopping in Dumaguete. It’s done through an app called Cartspree. Mixed reviews and I have not tried it myself. Some love it and others are complaining that most stocks are unavailable. It’s an option anyway, in case things take a turn for the worse.

You will find this news story in Headz Up Neg Or, the FB page of Negros Oriental and the date of the story says June 15, that means today. The news states that a 50-year-old American guy was arrested for violation of a law against drugs.

I find this sad since this fellow is not from this country and getting into such a situation should be the last thing he should have done. I am just sharing this because some of you might know him, his name is in the news story.

It has been a long time since I wanted to join Dumagueteinfo Forum and have my voice heard. I always postponed it, thinking, why do I need to post my complaints here and maybe spread negative vibes.

But finally I realized that it's important to tell and share my opinions with others so we can all learn new things and grow and improve together.

I live in the Philippines almost 19 yrs. and I have travelled all over the country and finally chosen Dumaguete 10 yrs. ago.

But now I am not satisfied about this city anymore for many reasons, one of them is the high level intolerance that I experience almost every day.

This is one of the many stories I want to tell.

Yesterday I was shopping at Lee Plaza and was going out. At the main entrance there was a Filipino couple in their 50's with a lot of boxes and bags (shopping items from Lee Plaza). The wife was sitting beside the boxes on the stairs and there was plenty of space for other people to access the entrance. The mall was not crowded at all at this time.

The guard approached the woman in a rather unfriendly manner and told the woman that she was not allowed to sit there. Looking at the woman she looked tired from the shopping and obviously with all those boxes she was just waiting for somebody to pick her up. For sure she was not planning to spend the whole day on the stairs.

But the guard insisted that the woman was not allowed to sit there.

I find this instance very annoying to a customer who has done extensive shopping, (maybe feeling tired) in the supermarket and just waiting to be picked up.

You might think, is this important, yes because there are many more episodes of intolerance at Lee Plaza and around the city, I will tell more stories in my future posts.

Note: By far the most customer unfriendly mall I have seen in 30 yrs. of travelling around the world!

It's taken me about nine years to get it (mostly) right. I think I know how to do it now. I will be happy to answer any questions.
