This is an important topic for many forum members. I have at least four friends here with prostate cancer. I recently went to a Dumaguete local clinic for a minor problem and asked if I could get a PSA blood test. The doctor said they do not do the special blood tests but gave me a prescription and said to go to Holy Child or Silliman. I went to Silliman Medical Center, after fasting for 12 hours and had the PSA blood test. The cost was 2090p. I got the results 5 hours later. Thankfully, my level was under 4.0 which points to a lower risk of prostate cancer but of course not bullet proof.
I urge all males over age 50 to get the test if you haven't the last year. Actor Ben Stiller, age 50, recently announced he has prostate cancer that was caught early enough to save his life.
Best wishes to Lorraine's partner for a speedy recovery and thank you for the post.

Personally never been burned by a Filipina. A couple times my own actions caused some pretty severe burns. I have heard a lot of guys talk as if they have done no wrong to their girls and claim they were burned...but I've seen those same guys acting like complete pricks after a couple drinks. Most get back what they are dishing out.

Some of you may recall my earlier posts regarding the registration of our marriage / 3 year tourist limit/ 13a problems.
I am happy to report that we just returned from a 5 week trip to Europe, and that I got a 1 year balikbayan stamp in my passport upon our return, thanks to the marriage registration report stamped and sealed by the Philippine embassy in The Hague.
That same registration form has also been reported back to the DFA in Manila and by them to the PSA.
My asawa has an appointment for next week at PSA, which will result in a Philippine marriage certificate at last (after 4 years of marriage).
That means we can finally start our application for a 13a visa, and have almost a year to get that done, so no need for express lane sh*t.

With the focus on Covid, people need to be aware of other health issues. Often when I come across something I need to be more aware of I copy it (then file it away and lose it!).

Today I read an article on pancreatic cancer - a disease that has to be caught early on for a chance of treatment. As many of us are in the high risk age-group I have posted some information below:

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...eeking-help-pancreatic-cancer-poll-shows.html

    • A 'worrying' number of people hold off seeking any help for pancreatic cancer
    • A UK poll revealed that 28 per cent of people wait three months before seeking help
    • Charity Pancreatic Cancer UK warned 'there is no time to wait' with the disease (More than 10,000 people are diagnosed with the disease in the UK each year but early detection gives people better odds of survival)
Pancreatic Cancer UK said that anyone with common symptoms of the disease – including back pain, indigestion, stomach pain and weight loss – should see a GP if issues persist for more than four weeks.

Anyone with jaundice – yellowing of the skin or eyes – should go to A&E immediately.

Thousands of people a year are told it’s too late, that nothing can be done for them. It is vital that people are diagnosed as early as possible to give them the best chance of having life-saving treatment.

Most cases (90 per cent) are in people over the age of 55. Around half of all new cases occur in people aged 75 or older."

[Please note that the symptoms can be caused by other health issues and do not signify the person has pancreatic cancer - but it is really important to be sure]

This is for US personnel who have to file the SSA Annual Report.

I contacted the SSA in Manila and asked how we could return the forms, especially since the Post Office is not accepting US bound mail for now. Wondering if it could be an attachment to an email or just send it to them and they could send it on to Wilkes Barre for us.

They replied. The Annual Report is suspended until further notice and suggested that I check back in November.

So those that might be worried about this issue can rest a little easier.

I must confess that I become argumentative and just generally grouchy as a result of this quarantine and it shows in my posts and replies.... So I will refrain from any discussion on this $%#$% Covid #$#@@% until it is over and only pitch in when I can be of help .... Stay Safe all

Reading the above article makes me so grateful that I live in the Philippines and not the UK. I read a lot of criticism on various forums about the way things are in this country and while I accept that things are far from perfect at times I find it hard to imagine such moronic and despicable acts as these taking place over here.

Back in the pre-enlightened days when I as involved in policing in Liverpool disgusting behavior such as this would have earned the offenders an unpleasant ride in a personnel carrier to the cells following advice and guidance en-route and a visit to the A&E Department for cosmetic repairs. Rant over!

Since it's only 8:40 am (12/24) here in SoCal and most of you are probably sleeping since it's midnight there, let me be the first to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Years for 2020.

Now I consume fruits, vegetables, grilled Tuna steaks, bottled water. Ceased the wine, caffeine coffee, pasta, pizza, potato chips, McDonalds and Croissants.

Within a month blood pressure dropped to 120/80. Started brisk walking too.
