It depends very much on whether there is 'clean title' and road frontage or right of way access

Sorry to be negative but it seems more like a personal wish list that benefits the foreigner much more so than the citizens of the Philippines. Foreigners, generally, just don't bring that much to the table in developing countries. Foreigners in developing countries are, generally, from lower socioeconomic statuses that could barely survive in their own country (which is why most decided to move to a country that has a much lower cost of living). If anything, visas and long term stays should be made much more difficult to obtain.

To "make huge turns in the Philippines economic machine" they need to focus more on their own people, not foreigners. Better education, healthcare, social and economic safety nets, cracking down on corruption and greed, competent government, better tax collection, etc. Sure, bring in foreign experts to share their knowledge and expertise in a university environment...but personally, I have met only a hand full of these types in my 15+ years in the Philippines.

Foreigners are not and will never be the solution to the Philippines woes.

Honeycomb on the boulevard. It sits on the corner of Locsin and the boulevard. If you go around the side on Locsin you'll see a small Japanese restaurant and then there's another section of Honeycomb. Go past the Japanese restaurant and you'll see a small parking area and a door. I think the game starts around 6pm. Before it starts, the parking area is empty. While it's going, the area will be full of motorcycles. Go in that door and you'll see a couple of tables going.

There's also a walkway which goes further into the building where there's a bar. Don't go in there. There's no poker there.

There's also home games around the city. If you see foreigners in there, you can ask them about other games. Games and locations change all the time because the legality is questionable. Occasionally a game gets shut down because the organizers start feeling heat. Right now the poker scene is quite small. There used to be a lot more options.

The game at Honeycomb is Texas Holdem. Sometimes you get Koreans or tourists who drop a lot of money and you can do quite well. A lot of the locals play loose and aggressive, so you have to be careful. Avoid small tables where you see all locals with small stacks. They just go all-in and buy back in at the minimum. You end up with relatively small wins and their all-ins hit often enough to wear down your stack.

Just a scam artist trying to scam their way into your wallet. Pretty pathetic tactic IMO but I appreciate those who do it...it lets me know that I should never trust that person or the long-nose clown posse that agrees/hangs out with them. Don't hate on me because I came here with enough money to support myself and my goals, I didn't build up a savings by giving away more than I could afford to lose. If someone can't respect or appreciate that then I know they aren't someone that should be trusted to pay me back.

What's screwed up is that Filipinos have been much better at paying me back than long noses have. Most of the locals that have asked to borrow from me have paid me back on time or within a reasonable amount of time....less than 10% of foreigners pay back on time - if ever. What's really f*cking ridiculous is that the long noses think that all loans should be interest free and get insulted when asked for it. I won't help a foreigner out these days unless they are willing to sign over a car/motorcycle to my name valued double what they are asking for. For lower amounts I'll take a smart phone as collateral and if you don't repay I'll take the phone and use it to give your girl a call (trust me, your girl knows you're a loser and won't hesitate to jump that sinking ship).

I'd say if your needing something like candy crush to keep her from annoying and bugging you then you got the wrong gal.

But maybe what we need is an app that gets installed as admin that allows you to remote her phone over wifi/bluetooth that pops up with a big *I need XYZ* that won't go away until you remove it off the screen from your end that way they will be real quick to accomplish whatever it is you want be it cooking food, grabbing you another beer, or even a quickie :p

This is a heads up for newcomers to the Philippines as expats who have been here a while would or should already know this.
How to lose friends in the Philippines is simple LEND THEM MONEY because they will not pay it back and if you ask them to pay it back that's when YOU are becoming unreasonable, a strict foreigner, rich when they are poor and all the other things that are said.
Its happened to me twice both times with relations of my wife who were actually friends.
1st time was a female cousin, a hard working woman in her 50s no husband and one married daughter with a husband and they both have good jobs, the cousin had a motorbike crash and was in hospital about to get an operation, when the daughter found out the cost she instructed the mother be moved (with a broken leg) to a cheaper hospital, i said to my wife just lend her the money to get it done, all good the daughter thanked us and even asked for more money for another operation for her mother, i said ok, that was well over a year ago and only 30% of what we lent has been paid back and we don't seem to be so friendly anymore.
2nd time, you might think once bitten twice shy but this time was a completely different situation although it was again a female cousin (seems to be a trend here) this woman was married to an American and flew in from the US without him to throw her family here a lifeline by starting a business for them to run , at the time we had a car to sell and she wanted to buy it, i gave her a good price and she wanted to pay it over 12 months, 1st payment no problem then the trouble starts, when asked why the second payment is missing she reveals that the purchase is between her and 6 siblings and now their turn to pay, to cut a long story short the most of the money was paid with maybe a few thousand short after lots of phone calls and unfriending on facebook.
By the way when the woman went back to US the business failed and the car was broken.
But lesson learned and no matter what the sob story the ATM is permanently closed to everyone.

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 4 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the country on Sunday, March 8.

This brings to 10 the Philippines' total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus.

The new cases, all admitted in private hospitals, are the following:

A 38-year-old Taiwanese male with no known history of foreign travel, but was in contact with another Taiwanese who visited the Philippines and tested positive in Taiwan. His symptoms started on March 3.
A 32-year-old Filipino male with a history of travel to Japan within the past 14 days. His symptoms started on March 5.
An 86-year-old American male with preexisting hypertension and history of travel to the United States and South Korea. His symptoms started on March 1.
A 57-year-old Filipino male with no known history of foreign travel, but was reportedly in contact with a confirmed case.
In a statement, the DOH said the patients were tested on Saturday, March 7, but results were only released Sunday.

The DOH said it is now investigating all the cases and gathering information from their hospitals, while coordinating with concerned local government units for "infection prevention and control measures."

Out of the 10 confirmed cases in the Philippines, 7 are confined, 2 have recovered, while 1 died. The fatality was a Chinese tourist.

President Rodrigo Duterte agreed to declare a state of public health emergency in the Philippines due to the confirmation of local transmission of the virus, upon the request of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

Duque urged the public, especially those who will be contacted by the DOH's surveillance teams, to fully cooperate.

Those with fever or respiratory symptoms and travel history are advised to call (02)8-651-7800 local 1149-1150.

"I call on the public to continue to be vigilant and practice personal preventive measures such as proper hand hygiene, social distancing, and cough etiquette," Duque said, adding that mass gatherings and crowded places should be avoided.

"Only through concerted effort at the community level will we be able to succeed against the threat of the disease." – Rappler.com
