I work along side with about 5 Muslims and 2 are also great friends of mine that even attended my wedding 19+ years ago. They are as great of people as any i have discovered . I submit in all factions within different cultures there are wackos. The term (Muslim extremist) is best suited in describing the radical, or (radical Muslim extremist). Having said that....in all religion you have extremists, it's just the Muslim extremist that seem to capture the most prevalent Media attention in these times, and of coarse with reason!

- Thread: Kids banned on motorcycles
No, there is an "or" in there. If the child can reach the foot pegs and put their arms around the driver OR they are wearing a helmet. The law reads if it is one or the other. Also, laws from Manila mean jack sh*t...local governments have to implement the law and enforce them.-

No mistake, I think it is a great thread, examining the pros and cons of bringing aging parents to retire in the Philippines. I have asked my mother to come here and I would help her in her octagenarian years but she doesn't like the Philippines as a place to live.
I think it could be done with a decent standard of living at a better cost than other parts of the world. It's not for everyone though. One big concern would be protection. Octagenarian, foreign retirees would be seen as a juicy target for criminals.-

Which just shows, its not about saving a child or getting a low life off the street. Its about money. They couldn't care less about the kids. Not really justice or law enforcement, just a joke.

I wonder how much of that water is being lost to crappy infrastructure or user negligence. I remember meeting a Peace Corp worker on Panglao Island. He had a PhD in Engineering and was doing some volunteer work setting up water systems for people in the hills. He said they needed to charge for the water, otherwise the people would just leave the water running all the time.

I use windy.com and ventusky.com and the current modelling for wind and rain forecasts seems to be more represntative on Ventusky, particularly for our area.-

They go hand in hand.
Religion is their culture, the culture influences the person's behavior. Their women are nothing more than property to them...how do you think they view a female helper from a foreign country? They hold dogs in higher regard.
There are less extreme places to go work - those that have a more "liberal" view towards religion - such as UAE (Dubai...Abu Dhabi to a lessor extent), Qatar, Turkey (this is changing quickly), etc. You still want to be careful and know your place in those countries but at least they usually give you some respect and treat you like a human. Kuwait may seem similar to these places on the surface but I assure you they are nowhere near as "liberal" as the ones mentioned.
I would say an OFW is less likely to be abused in HK. Sure it happens there, but I suspect the chances are much higher in Kuwait.
Note: Where I think it gets really dangerous for any OFW is when they overstay their visa. When that happens they are much more likely to be employed by people/companies that don't care much about following laws.
Religion is not just an excuse.....it is the law in Kuwait. Sharia Law is on a spectrum....and Kuwait's version of it is one of the most extreme. They are right up their with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Afghanistan.-

“This is just for the identification of every individual, of every Muslim. If we have the ID system, we will know who the residents are and who the visitors are in a place,” Aquino said, as cited by SunStar.
Hmm reminds me of
“This is just for the identification of every individual, of every Jew. If we have the ID system, we will know who the residents are and who the visitors are in a place,” Nazi leaders said.-

Maybe the government should focus more of their resources on the Muslim problem and less on this perceived drug problem. Mindanao has been ignored for a very long time by Manila....and it doesn't look like this new president has done much for the island or the people there either.
