Correct me if I'm wrong but the message sounds like he is saying, "I'm part of a political dynasty and best buds with the other political dynasty candidates running for president. Pick me so I can carry on my family's legacy of power and corruption and continue to make my living off of stealing from you guys." :meh:

Im not an advocate for using drugs but marijuana has much less health problems and violent offences relating to it than alcohol does.

I guess if the marijuana was separated in 20 individual match boxes he was dealing it. Not a smart idea.

Obviously potential Expats need better preparation financially, physically, mentally and emotionally before coming here. A realistic plan of financial survival here is necessary. There are few governmental safety nets here in the Philippines. Coming to Philippines expecting to have some form of income from within the country, is not valid thinking with the present laws (you can only own 40%, consequently you have no control over "your own" company , and you partners will come from a culture where corruption is rampart. There are many partners available that will be happy to assume ownership of the other 60%our your company with out any investment of their own). There are both natives and expats that are opportunists when it come to your finances. Permits for working here are difficult. Physically you need to know your health issues and the services available here to care for your present health issues, and potential health issues in your family background. Mentally you have to be ready for the challenge of being a minority with few rights, this is an experience most of us have not previously had to deal with in life. Expecting the same right as your mother company is unreasonable. Flexibility of thinking, and acceptance of situations you have not previously experienced is important. Emotionally the Filipino culture is much different from western cultures. If you come her as a single man, and expect to find "sleeping beauty" (or some other fairly tale character) ( or already have found her on the internet) you better open you eyes wide. Read, experience and learn as much as you can from others mistakes. The ladies here may be slight in physical form but do not under estimate their ability to out scam you, out lie you and generally out maneuver you in the world of romance (They love to use the laws here that are definitely written for protecting them, and leaving you vulnerable to having to buy your way out of a situations.) For those happily married members here, congratulations, but not all may married friend are totally happy here. Realize that coming here for romance that you are very vulnerable, while the innocent sweet young ladies you meet are not as naive as you think, and probably on top of the game in romance. At minimum the rules of relationship are definitely different from the Expat cultures and the native cultures.
You have to be strong to survive in the Philippines. You will not arrive with the typical "networks" that you looked to for support in your mother country. If you do not realize that before you come here, with both a solid living plan and escape plan of your own you may find yourself in the position of the other noted in the article above. You need to be strong financially with a plan, mentally strong with perseverance and flexibility in thinking because you have never experience some of the challenges you will come up against here. You need to be mentally strong and capable with emotional stability necessary to navigate the "romance life culture" the Philippines. As Benjamin Franklin said a few centuries ago — 'If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!' The Philippines can be great if you have a plan, and know your intentions in being here .

AHA. I figured they would work foreigners into the story somehow, even thought the victims, perps, and cops were all locals.

Manila, Sep 7 (efe-epa).- The Philippines will not open its borders to international visitors until the second half of 2021 and plans to gradually reactivate domestic tourism in October, a spokesman for the Department of Tourism told EFE on Monday.

“When other countries lift border controls, the Department of Tourism expects international visitors from the region in the second half of 2021,” said spokeswoman Czarina Zara-Loyola.

Rather than fully opening up to foreign visitors, the Philippines plans to create travel bubbles with countries in the region, which have generally been successful in containing COVID-19.

The Philippines has imposed one of the longest and strictest quarantines in the world, which has particularly affected the tourism, transport and aviation sectors, as not only the country’s borders are closed, but movement between provinces is also restricted.

To offset the losses in a sector that in 2019 came to represent 11 percent of GDP, the Department of Tourism plans the gradual reopening of domestic tourism in the last quarter of the year, at a time when the pandemic is increasingly under control , with the exception of Manila.

“National tourism is the backbone of the industry. The Department of Tourism expects, with the support of local governments, its gradual activation from the last quarter of this year until the first six months of 2021,” said Zara-Loyola.

It should be noted however that the company is also open to other operators to cater to the vast potential of the market. In fact, this is the reason why they Maxboat will not be operating the Cebu City to Liloan route of the water bus because this route is going to be operated by one of their boat building clients.

When Will the Water Bus Start Operations?
The water bus service is set to officially start operations around May or April 2018. 5 vessels are scheduled to start operating by then.

The initial sea trials as well as official launching is set on March 2018.

NegOr on Heightened Alert Status. All Resort owners will be called tomorrow for a security breifing at the Capitol.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Philippine National Police, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines are on heightened alert following intelligence reports a group of suspected terrorists were spotted in the vicinity of the province of Siquijor earlier this week.

Dumaguete PCG commander Lt Jr Grade Dona Lisa Ramacho said the information was relayed to the Maritime Safety and Security Task Group of Task Force Leon Kilat, and that measures are undertaken in close coordination with other law enforcement units on the ground.

Ramacho has ordered all the seaports in her area of responsibility to establish passenger assistance desks in Negros Oriental including Siquijor island for the safety and security of passengers.

She said additional personnel were also deployed in Apo Island, along with the army and the police in view of the report.

Coastal barangays are also alerted for possible intrusion and to immediately report presence of suspected looking individuals or groups found in their respective areas of jurisdictions.

Ramacho made it clear these are all part of the nationwide implementation of Oplan Ligtas Biyahe for the Lenten season

    OFF THE RECORD
When This Boat Crew Realized What They Were Seeing, It Was Almost Too Late To Escape Alive!

We might not realize it in front of our eyes, but the Earth is still changing all the time! It just happens so slowly that we can’t really perceive it. Every now and then, things speed up… a lot!

The crew of the Maiken was enjoying a leisurely sail through the South Pacific when they spotted a strange discoloration on the water. They moved in closer to inspect it, but by the time they realized what it was, it was too late…

The crew of the Maiken was sailing the South Pacific when they spotted an unusual shadow.

As they got closer, what they had taken to be a sandbar revealed itself to be something else entirely.

A huge amount of pumice stone was floating to the surface of the water. It looked like a beach.

They decided to get a closer look and redirected their yacht towards it.

It looks like a beach in the middle of the ocean!

The crew decided to sail through it, leaving a break in the stone behind them as they went.

They wondered what could have caused this expanse of stone to suddenly appear.

The field of pumice was getting even larger as they passed through it. The crew had an uneasy feeling and upped their speed.

Once they were a safe distance away, they heard a faint rumbling. Looking back they saw water bubbling from the surface.

The source of the pumice stone was an underwater volcano that was actually erupting at the time!

They anchored to watch this tremendous event. Massive plumes of smoke filled the sky.

As the smoke cleared, they noticed something strange just at the water’s surface….

    It was land!

The stunned crew couldn’t believe what they were seeing: It was the actual birth of a new island.

They sailed a little bit closer to see if their eyes were playing tricks on them.

But it was real. The peaks of this new land mass were already taking form.

It was one of the rarest events imaginable.

Immigration Commissioner Ronaldo Geron has sacked a confidential agent for carrying out an unauthorized investigation of a British retiree.

“Your contract as confidential agent is terminated effective immediately due to gross violation of office rules and (for) undertaking an unauthorized operation resulting (in) loss of trust and confidence,” Geron said in a letter to Emmanuel Ambrona, who had served as a confidential agent for several years.

Geron said his decision followed a letter from one Trevor Fawcett, a British national living in the Philippines on a special resident retiree’s visa.

One can only hope and hope ................

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Hundreds of modified motorcycle mufflers were destroyed by the Kidapawan City government as it intensify campaign against noise polllution and illegal mufflers.

A road roller flattened the confiscated mufflers in a ceremony in front of the Kidapawan City hall Tuesday witnessed by Mayor Joseph Evangelista and other officials.

Rey Manar, head of Kidapawan City traffic unit, the assorted mufflers were seized during months of traffic law enforcement in the city.

Locally known as "Bora-bora" (open pipe mufflers) the mufflers were improvised to create noise while the motorbike is running the streets of the city.

The sound is very irritating to human ears.

Manar admitted there are still motorcycles with "bora-bora" roaming around the city but in due time they will be confiscated.

"At least with this confiscation, the noise pollution has been reduced," he said.
