**Latest update: Summary – on 9 May 2017, the US Embassy in Manila advised its citizens it had received “credible information that terrorist groups may be planning to conduct kidnapping operations targeting foreign nationals in the areas of Palawan Province, Philippines, to include Puerto Princesa City, and the areas surrounding Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park”; you should carefully consider travel plans, and exercise heightened vigilance in these areas**

Those guys are not exceptionally bright they might not even be exceptionally average.
Recently the NPA have become more active. I was told there usual funding (aka keep quite and don't make waves allowance) which came from politicians has been cut off.
Maybe these folks just need money or in the worst case a job.

 

They don't think rationally.

 

The UK and Canada have now added this advisory: "...... additional warnings about Dumaguete, Siquijor and Cebu".

 

Maybe if the Pres offered them a big pay cheque and immunity and sent them to a certain reef island in dispute with a close neighbour to clean up the invaders it could kill two birds with one stone and then said Pres could safely plant his flag keeping everyone happy...

 

Just returned from there April 12th---if they hit the Subterranean River, it is a "target rich environment" in the waiting area---tons of tourists, about a one hour wait from the time of arrival at the river's mouth to embarking on the small boat that goes thru the cave. They could have captured well over 100 tourist when we were there!

ARMED MEN SIGHTINGS

From Provincial Director of NORPPO: “This pertains to the alleged two groups of armed men sighted who are wearing camouflage green fatigue on board on two pump boats docked at the shoreline of Sitio Matu-og, Brgy. Basak, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental. Said armed men were sighted by local residents in the area with an estimated number of more or less 20 persons with one (1) female who walked across the National highway going to the hinterland of Brgy. Binobohan and Brgy. Mani-ak, Guihulngan City, carrying assorted high powered firearms to include carbine, M16 and machine gun. The said sighted armed men believed to conduct tactical offensive against government troops and vital installations.”

As per above report we enjoined all residents in the area of District I, specially residents in all the barangays in the Municipality of Jimalalud to be vigilant and report to this station or to any other authorities of any confirmed slightest indication of suspicious men and women.
