Monosodium glutamate and sodium chloride (common table salt) are both naturally occurring. I hope there isn't a lot of naturally occurring arsenic in the food.

Just because something is hard to pronounce, you don't know what it is or how it's made does not mean it isn't "natural". There are plenty of "natural things" out there that will kill you. I really hate these "all natural" and, especially, "non-GMO" movements.

If you want to go non-GMO stop going to the store and only eat wild animals you kill yourself or things you pick off of plants that grow in the wild. You are about 10,000-13,000 years too late to the non-GMO fight.

I think thats only true to a certain degree and if you don't want to change your eating habits. Obviously there are certain labels that are over used and / or nonsense (think Gluten free - 90% of the population or more have no problem with gluten at all).

If you eat only what you buy at the local wet market, except certain kinds of rice (thanks Monsanto), there is no GMO stuff to be had here imho. If in doubt about what they feed their chicken / pigs (soy beans are usually of the GMO kind), go vegetarian or only eat fish (fish and other seafood has it's own set of problems though). I recently met a vegan guy and he is a perfectly healthy (although skinny) dive instructor. It's possible (not that I'm a fan of that myself...).

So true, there's a lot of bullshit going around, but it is definitely not 10000 years too late to take care of what you eat.

Almost every crop produced today is a "genetically modified organism". Humans have been altering the genetics of plants and animals since we learned how to farm and domesticate animals. We are just faster and better at it now. Corn is a mutant plant that is incapable of growing without human intervention and is in the majority of food products (at least in the US).

All chickens, cows and pigs you eat are GMOs. Every single one of them. They resemble nothing like they did when we first decided to keep them pinned up. Your dog or cat is a GMO. Humans will soon be GMO.

What is REALLY screwing us up is amount of sugar that is being forced in our diet. It is almost impossible to avoid eating processed sugar and other unhealthy carbs, especially in the West. (I really can't get away from it. I rely on the military for food and they serve some of the most unhealthy crap you can find, and they still believe the food pyramid that I learned in elementary is "healthy" diet advice. It's not.)

Humans are not designed to be vegan. Most vegans have to take supplements to make up for the nutrients they miss out on by not eating meat. We didn't become the most intelligent and dominant species on this planet by eating nothing but plants. Cooked meat played a big part in how we evolved, and continue to evolve, our intelligence.

There are also people out there that have murdered their children (and infants) by forcing a vegan diet on them. Obviously it isn't "impossible" to live a true and natural vegan diet....but most humans are not mentally, physically or financially capable of it.

I can understand and respect why some people would choose that lifestyle: the way animals are treated in many factory farms is absolutely disgusting (especially kosher factories, Jews and Muslims are brutal to animals!) and should be punished severely. But there are also people out there that almost seem (no, some openly admit) to put animal lives higher up than human lives. Those people's behavior can only be explained by some type of mental illness or childhood trauma.

There is a difference between messing around with the Genome of organisms in a laboratory and creating new species through selection over hundreds or thousands of years - the latter has little risk to create Frankenplants or -animals with unknown side effects to the eco system since they're part of it and change happens slowly. Obviously today's Pigs haven't existed as such thousand years ago. Still I prefer one of those 'original' species to a species whose DNA had Genes from whatever other organism implanted to enhance growing speed or whatever else. I admit I do not think like that because I know it's going to kill me, but something tells me that there is an unknown risk that I simply like to avoid where possible. And when Monsanto creates patented crops that are the only plants that withstand their patented herbicides which kill anything else, then there is a lot wrong on many other levels than just personal health.

Amen to all you write about sugar and carbs in general - skipping soft drinks, sugar and white bread and to a lesser degree other carbs whenever possible is imho the best one can do for their diet.

Why worry about GMO when we already have Mobile Phones that are affecting our lives including our reproductive organs... I read in another study where, when a Woman has handled a Cell Phone, she has already affected her Eggs, so when she has a Daughter, and passes Eggs onto that child, then that child is already affected via the Cell Phone her mother has handled changing the make up of her Eggs, in turn, changing the way we reproduce.

In that story they had no real knowledge of where this would take us as a species or how it would affect us in the long term. The below study (link) is beginning to look into the effects of Cell Phone use and effects in the Human Body in Laboratories using animals as test subjects. I have also read many warnings on Men carrying Cell Phones in their Pockets due to the affect it can have on their gonads, the link below also covers that aspect.

So in a way, we are already genetically modifying our bodies via our lifestyle choices. The one thing that plays on my mind was when I was growing up. I was unusually tall at my School being 6' tall. Today, the kids tower over me! Now the Doctors are saying my Grandson will most likely top out at a height of 6' 11" :jawdrop: Where will it end and why are people growing much taller?

In my old City back in Australia were many old Welsh Homes ranging from 100 to 200 years or so old. Most of these originally had 5' Doorways due to the height of the people who lived in them. How tall will the doorways need to be, when my Grandson will need to duck to enter a normal doorway built today. :o o:

No doubt about it, we as a species are evolving into something different to what was around 200 years ago even...

Please provide a source for that. Cell phones hardly put off any rf. Much less than what is already floating around. I would call BS on that study. Mobile phone frequencies are non-ionizing radiation.

    Doctors cannot predict height.

Human height has been increased since the first humans stood up.

Evolution never stops. We are as different from humans 200 years ago as they were from humans 200 years before them.

Did you read the conclusion of that study?
It doesn't agree with what you have said here.

A lot of the report says possibly. Just keep your phone in your pocket mate you'll be fine...

When my 4th child was around 5 years old (around 1990) the Pediatrician told us he wanted to give him the growth hormone because he would grow to 5' tall. I refused his offer, my son grew to 5' tall on the knocker and is now 32 years old and happily married, so IMHO never needed Growth Hormones. But he did predict using some bullshit formula that he would not grow taller than 5' tall and was spot on.

    The first paragraph states;
    Purpose
The radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR) produced by cell phones can enhance the excitability of the brain and has recently been classified as carcinogenic. The suggested use of hands-free kits lowers the exposure to the brain, but it might theoretically increase exposure to the reproductive organs. This report summarizes the potential effects of RF-EMR on reproductive potentials in both males and females.

I have a friend in Australia who used a Blue-tooth Ear piece. When he was diagnosed with a Brain tumor, and the Dr drew an outline on the side of his head where his tumor was, the Ear piece fitted the outline perfectly. Believe it or not; but he did post the pictures when he was diagnosed on the forum I was once a member of. Today Clint is now in a Hospice under 24/7 care and warns everyone of his experience

Another was in the Navy and work in the Radio department. he also developed a Brain tumor and to this day the Navy still pays for his medication to try and keep the tumor under control which was claimed to have formed due to the work he did and being exposed. One time they turned the Radio equipment on while he was repairing something. Duly noted he used that when he was diagnosed and was told that the Navy would take care of ongoing treatment.

I know another friend's Mother who was told she would be fine when she was present at Maralinga Nuclear Bomb Test in Australia. She had ongoing bouts of different Cancers and illnesses attributed to her being present at the Nuclear Bomb test, her Son who was born soon after had a birth defect which he carries to this day and all tests have pointed towards her exposure to those tests.

Sorry; but as for believing inconclusive statements that have not yet been fully proven, I would rather err on the side of safety. Thank you. I was once told I did not need to wear a Mask when working in my field, only to find out years later I was a fool for listening to the advice of others. Chemicals I used I have since found out were also absorbed into my body via contact with my skin. I remember when I was told it was fine to come into contact with Gasoline, nowadays they warn you to wear gloves or protective clothing because of the carcinogenic properties. My Uncle once sprayed DDT as it was suppose to be completely safe to humans, he paid for that dearly in his later life... Over time so many things have been revealed to be detrimental to your health. I still believe the day will come when Cell Phones joins that list.

I know when I use a Mobile Phone to talk on for any length of time, my left ear burns, then weeps for a fair while afterwards. I know I am not imagining that as it only happens when I speak on the phone, not when I use it for texting. So for me I do believe there is something to all of this even if you do not. When there are multiple articles online in relation to this warning of possible danger, I now tend to pay attention.

The internet is full of articles like this; (Again I will err on the side of safety and heed the warnings given)

I know I will be ok. I have a $15k spectrum analyzer here at work and know exactly what frequencies and power levels a cell phone puts out. It is nothing compared to what is being pushed out by other wireless sources. Again, it is also non-ionizing radiation, it simply doesn't have enough energy to damage your body/cells/DNA. "A lot of reports" means nothing without sources. Anecdotal evidence does not convince me.

Anecdotal. A doctor told my parents I would be 6'5". That didn't happen. Far too many unpredictable factors go into how tall someone would be. Doctors simply cannot reliably predict how tall someone will be.

The military will pay for treating ANY tumor you developed while serving. Did EVERYONE in that radio shop develop tumors? Unlikely. How do you explain that? Anecdotal and a logical fallacy.

Eating Filipino chickens will cause cancer. Best believe that until someone proves it wrong.

    False equivalency.

Nocebo effect. It very well could be in your mind.

    nocebo
a detrimental effect on health produced by psychological or psychosomatic factors such as negative expectations of treatment or prognosis.

My doctor told me that I'll grow to 1.83 m. But I was growing only to a pinoy public transport compatible height of 1.67 m. :hilarious:  Probably God did know that I do have to move to the Philippines in the future. :woot: :wideyed: And will have to rely on public transportation there.:roflmao:
