Speaking of face, I hear the Japanese say this when they can’t take a joke:

“Tell a joke but please limit the subject to my
face.”
And I’m like what?

Lost in translation:

The Saturday class I’m in started recently and there’s this one lady among a few Japanese students who seemed to be struggling with her English while she was introducing herself.

Teacher: And how do I address you?

Student: Um, just now.

Teacher(to the whole class) She said, “just now”.

Nobody reacted, not even the native English speakers and I thought, wow, these guys are so cool!

Anyway, the teacher didn’t press harder. She has a list afterall, and of course she wouldn’t want to embarrass her. So I was left wondering if she could make it in this class.

Later, I had a nice chat with this student before heading home and imagine how embarrassed I was when she told me her name is Nao (pronounced “now”).

 

Well...never been to the other places so can't judge them (been overseas too long I guess) but when working in remote locations one of the many things I missed was Taco Bell. Being back in Korea I make a trip most weekends to Camp Walker just to grab some Taco Bell.
