Which Resort For Snorkeling?

I have bought the tickets and will be bringing my 18-year-old son with me. We land in Cebu July 18 and will spend four nights there then take a ferry to Duma. I have reserved two rooms at OK Pension House, you never know when I might meet a new friend, for four nights. After that, I want to take him snorkeling somewhere close and economical. I hope you all might steer us to a nice place where he can swim to without using a boat, please.

 

The marine sanctuary in Dauin has a very nice reef that starts only a few meters from the shore. There is a nominal entrance fee. You will need to bring your own gear. You can get cheap masks and snorkels at LEE Plaza.

 

Dauin (about 20 minutes south of Dumaguete) is marine sanctuary with coral and coral fish which is only a few meters from the shore. Turn left just after the market on the South Road and go towards the water and you will end at a small private beach area where you can hire equipment, get a table and buy food and drink for not much money. I don't remember the names of some of the places but maybe some others here can help with that. No use of a boat and all easily accessible.

Suggest you take the jeepney which commences next to the bakery opposite Robinsons on the corner. The following detail comes from a post someone did in Tripadvisor Aug 29, 2018:

Fee for diving in the sanctuary is 50 pesos and Jepeeny 20-30 pesos just drop off at the market in Dauin, walking distance to the beach, if you lazy take a trike from the market to the beach, negotiate the price first, no more than 50 pesos for that trip. You need rent table and chairs there (around 100 pesos) if you don't go to a restaurant or resort on the beach. Corals and fish in many colors, nice place

 

Thanks all. I was under the impression, obviously wrong, that trikes were cheap transport. I will follow the advice and do a jeepney.

 

Jeepney not advised if you have any back problems or if you are over 2ft 11.5 ins.

 

So that's the reason there are so many massage parlors there.
