If you are in the smaller towns alot of guys who work in the cane fields just walk around with there machetes, including catching the jeepney while carrying them. Even in the city you will see some men bringing bolos and knives like it's part of their nature. I think there should be a law prohibiting this.
I believe they do have laws covering bladed weapons. The problem is not with the law, it is with crime prevention. Unfortunately most of the police only respond to crimes, they don't go out, make a presence and try to discourage criminal activity.
