If i understand this right, the two were the owners of the resort where they got kidnapped. How adventurous to run a business in such an area, where it is warned everywhere to stay there. I do not understand how people can ignore the danger. Sorry for the guys.
They also owned 2 schools in the area and had been there a long time but recently the mayor had warned them about being there and to be aware.
1 million peso reward that leads to arrests. Also they recently fired 5 Teachers that worked at their schools. Revenge may be a motive. Regardless (LOOK HERE) at sketch's of 2 suspects. https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/10/08...ts-in-kidnapping-of-british-man-filipina-wife
Still are kidnapped and no leads or ransom has been updated anywhere. But Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana of the Philippines is also talking to British Official Offices now, so some added pressure hopefully can bring about some results. It is more strongly felt that this could be a revenge for ransom or extortion in regards to some fired employee's that worked for the couple.

Getting kidnapped for firing somebody, wtf. This is simply not the country for running any kind of business as a foreigner, unless you're willing to invest in dedicated security staff and put yourself behind high walls most of the time. I think as a foreigner it's best to see the Philippines strictly as a playground / place to spend money (but keep a low profile
This is probably why most wealthy Filipinos do just that. They know better, it is the foreigner and occasional FilAm/OFW with rose colored glasses that refuses to understand the true nature of the country and extremely poverty and desperation.
