well we stopped there recently to check it out. could not tell if it was open. there are two doors with the inner one locked up like fort knox and a buzzer. you have to wait for someone to come and let you in. honestly it was "off putting". the owner was there, super nice guy, no customers, we probably won't go back because of the speakeasy entrance. not sure what evils that is supposed to control??

 

I personally find the above post quite puzzling. We all had this entrance experience how ever to state it as off putting surprises me.

We did not even find it to be a minor irritant. It's a great place with massive food portions plus appealing decor an friendly owner.

 

I found this post even more surprising.
When we arrived, we entered the first door and some one opened the inter door immediately. I did not realize that the inter door was like that until this post. I did take a glance at the electronics on the wall between the door and just thought it was a clock in & out for the employees. I guess, I am not as alert as I think I am.

 

Could be they are trying to control the "evils" that might want to get inside to do something bad.

 

To me, Inhouse Security is preferable than an untrained/Badly trained Mickey mouse armed guard outside

 

Mickey mouse armed guard? Where I come from they are referred as"Rent-a-Cop". One of my grandsons is one.

 

See, as I've said a few dozen times, NEVER criticize anybody in Dumaguete, they are ALWAYS somebody's cousin, co-worker, or Silliman University classmate....

Outside door, inside door, locked or unlocked I can live with that as it has nothing to do with the quality of food being served. Only one word for that excellent, not to forget the warm welcome by the owner itself and the way he appreciates your renewed visit as customer rather than in 99,9% of all other restaurants in the Dumaguete area where you are just a number. Complaining about a locked door, well better visit a place where, when you have diner being disturbed by so called poor people begging and the like of this. One block away they enjoy an ice cream or open a bottle of Tanduay to celebrate the good harvest.
