great to know!! i had a nightmare over thansgiving with changes in booking so i planned to book PAL from dumaguete through to LA next time assuming PAL would "take care" of me if the flight from duma was delayed. not true??!! then i guess i am back to going a day early to cebu/manila to insure i make my international flight. thanks so much for sharing your experience!!

Both local airlines in terms of domestic flights are strictly point to point carriers from A to B, if you dont show up for a flight you are a no show (END OF STORY).......Why any comfort loving foreigner would fly international with CP, needs their head examined, they have their rules and good luck trying to convince them other wise, not that the other local airline is much better in terms of problem solving or offering refunds in most cases

I learned a long time ago through harsh experience, I fly a lot internationally and i just now give myself 2 days between my domestic and international connection, first time i got burned was an 8 hour connection between landing in and leaving manila from dumaguete, plenty of time (or so I thought), that was just a single passenger, next time it was the was the wife and me got burned for both tickets..............now I just give myself a clear 2 days between international and domestic

Hey earthlings, welcome to the new world. I was in the US last year and stayed at a Motel 6 (big cheapskate here, but not again), and they charged me the whole thing... First the email confirmation had different rates for every day of the 7 day stay (now standard in that screwed up country). Then I checked in a day early. That "invalidated the confirmation." Then I checked out a few days early, doubly "invalidating etc.." and it took two emails to the credit card company to get a refund on the extra, but since the confirmation was no longer in force, Motel 6 billed me $8 a day extra. Credit card company sided with "invalidated confirmation." So I either stress out, or "deal." I deal, like with "out of stock" or "we don't take credit cards" or "that rate was a promo rate, so it's no longer valid when you switch flights." <grin>....

PAL is again flying Cebu to LA starting May, like we did the other direction in 2016 (with the puppy on the left), avoid MNL, especially when they open the second airport... I like the idea of a two day layover for manila.

Wife and I had a very similar experience with Plane Always Late, about 7 years ago. Having already learned why they are called "Plane Always Late". I booked a flight to arrive 22 hours before my international flight. After 8+ hours of delay Plane Always Late, canceled our flight. To late to get another flight that day and a 06:00am international flight, just 11 hours away. The scramble; Petty cab to Sibulan, Ferry to Cebu, Bus to Cebu City, Cab to the air port and now it is 12 midnight and international flight just 6 hour away. Bought CP tickets on their 01:00am flight to MNL. This flight delayed also. Got to our international flight just minutes before boarding. After the all night scramble we both slept for most of the flight to San Francisco. At Washington DC at the start of our return trip I got an email from Plane Always Late, stating that our flight from MNL to DGT was changed to a flight that departed MNL before we would even arrive in the Philippines. Upon arriving in Manila we were informed that we had NO ticket because we were a NO SHOW. I bought two more tickets to Dumaguete. I went to DTI for help and was told that they could NOT help because Plane Always Late did not fall under their jurisdiction! After a bunch of emails Plane Always Late stated that my money would be refunded to my CC. That refund NEVER arrived not even a single centavo! Plane Always Late ripped this disabled senior for two round trip tickets between DGT and MNL and caused us to lose our money for two nights stay in the Remington Hotel near the MNL airport.
It's more fun in the PI. I learned my lesson a long time ago that Plane Always Late is SO POOR that they have to resort to stealing from disabled seniors.
I still have all the paper and emails from this vacation nightmare.
Thank you Plane Always Late for the $350.oo lesson. I hope you put your ill-gotten gains to good use.:finger:

    I don't know.
Save extra luggage fees with PAL.

I booked a flight with PAL Los Angeles to Dumaguete. I scheduled a one day layover in MNL to be safe regarding delays. The booking LA to Dumaguete was useful because I purchased a lot of extra luggage between LA and MNL. With this purchase PAL did not charge me the extra bag fees from MNL to Dumaguete because my luggage was checked through to Dumaguete from Los Angeles.

In Manila I had to claim my bags and clear customs then give them to PAL in the baggage area. This way I did not have to drag my 4 heavy suitcases around Manila during my overnight stay. Nor did I have to see a counter agent who may want to charge me extra baggage fees for the domestic portion of the flight.

This saved a lot of money because the free luggage allotment for domestic flights is a lot less than for International.

At this time I cannot remember if the website let me purchase the combined trip or if I purchased them separately and then had the counter agent link them during check-in.

Thanks for the advice. It’s great when PAL is forced to follow international booking rules when you book direct all the way. The marketplace forces them to behave.

In fairness to PAL, if international once you leave somewhat on time, its a fine flight, all the mod cons if its a longish flight, comparable to most other long haul carriers, half decent seats, palatable food, good entertainment.

bought lots of promos with CP super cheap, would only buy the flight, would buy no other ancillaries (seat select/food/extra baggage)...........a few days before the flight if i was taking the flight then i would add the baggage through the manage flight section on the website........now they have penalised that scenario..........if you book the baggage at the same time as the flight its 300ish pesos..........if you wait and add it later its 600ish pesos................bastaxxx
