I know this is a long shot but does any body know if its possible to buy a UK sim card in Dumaguete. The reason i need it is that more and more of the companies i deal with online need to send me a text with a pin so i can log in or verify a transaction. I had a pay as you go one when i came here but O2 in their wisdom decided to deactivate it with no warning as i had not topped it up for 6 months. I called Barclaycard and explained the situation but they told me they don't send texts to foreign numbers.
A different option would be to get a Google Voice or Skype number in the UK. This way you can make and receive calls and texts over the Internet as if you were in UK.
Existing Necro thread on subject, may help out https://dumagueteinfo.com/board/threads/cell-phone-bring-from-us-or-buy-in-pi.27019/
have someone send a Tesco sim card to you, won't take that long to get to you but most of those UK sim cards needs regular topping up and a minimum 10 pounds a month, but for Tesco you can still receive texts for free
Having sim card shipped to us form overseas is not easy Currently I am trying to get a replacement blank Sim card sent from Australia to me here in Dumaguete because I lost the one I was using I need to sim card for my banking codes It's not easy because I need to apply for approval with this NTC department and so far this has not been easy, multiple emails sent and no replies.... What I don't understand is why we are allowed to bring our Sim card with us when we arrive but when we need a replacement shipped we need authorization and have pay fees to customs so I can import the Sim card ? Can someone please help? Sent from my RMX2001 using Tapatalk

I honestly don't understand at all why you would need approval from a government agency whatsoever. Just get a friend to buy a prepaid simcard for you in Australia, have him validate/activate the card in Oz (important), then send it to you by courier. It'll work just fine here when you set it to "roaming". Don't ask anyone's permission.
I've contacted DHL and others and Sim cards will apparently get held up in customs if I ain't Gota Clearance from NTC Sent from my RMX2001 using Tapatalk
