    Folks

    Some time ago, I heard about a guy who had some kind of zoo or animal park somewhere close to the apo turnoff past Zamboguita

    I had the impression that he was a missionary that had died.

    I have looked for it but cannot find anything and asking around by the roadside has not brought any clues to light

    Does anyone have any info on it, what animals he had and what happened to the animals??

    You probably refer to Father Tropa.
    Just google that name and find a lot of information.

    Father Tropa Zoo

    It is certainly father Tropa's Zoo.

    I was there a few years back and must say that the animals did not look in very good shape. could be a nice place but just too far away and no budget after Father Tropa died.

    I am actually not 100% sure if still open. Next to some the animals (monkeys, alligators, birds they had a small museum which is a bit more like ripleys believe it or not with 2-headed cow (the second head attached like my little one did it when she was grade 3).

    Anyway, for her it was fun five years ago as she did not understand they way the animals got treated, or maybe tortured would be the better word.

    I passed by few days ago, its still opened.... pity animals w/ no support or lack of support from the DENR/local government/people around/and NGO's

    A few of us were there a few days ago,don't waste your time! Very run down now and the animals are all in small rusty cages and it is not in good shape. I think we spent around 30 mins only there and that was too long!
