I don't think cremation is popular practice in the Philippines in desposing the dead .In comparison to the UK cremation is popular as it is a lot cheaper , to do burial is expensive agenda. People normally bury their dead in PI .Speaking of memorial parks there's even boom in business setting up big lands as cemeteries for the affluent. There is only a handful of indians in Dumaguete,so far I know, and they normally practice cremation .So i wonder since there's only very little demand , then perhaps there's only very little chance for this kind of service offered around dumaguete. But there's no harm inquiring.Or perhaps even memorial parks might do special tailored service specific of this kind by arrangement.

I would think that any memorial service would be able to tell you of the nearest crematory service. Just because they don't offer it doesn't mean they don't know who does.
pn is right, it's not customary in PI but it is becoming more so. The next generation needs to wake up and realize what a waste of valuable land it is. There is no scientific or religious reason for rejecting cremation that I'm aware of. Superstition on the other hand.......

Agree timn8ter , land value is appreciating so much here in UK,that the cheaper alternative to dispose love ones is by cremation .With the booming population in the Philippines ,perhaps one day people will think of cheaper alternative from the traditional burial, through cremation. But many filipinos though seem supertitious and unto customary celebrations of 'all souls day' when people flock to the graveyard of their love ones to show respect and remembrance, some even party or stay there overnight ,just the odds i saw ,then burial practice would still appeal for longer periods.Perhaps change can happen not in this generation but in the future ones to come ,when land prices appreciate too much than we see now. However ,people can put tombs on top of the other that it almost look like high walls of piled up tombs ,like the 'sky scrappers' ,if land is limited then go up.Tanjay public cemetery is one good example ,so congested and almost like a maze of tombs.

I heard few odd people do this ,some even come out with a plan that come their end to have their bodies in biodegradable coffins or encased in cardboard box ( would be nice if artistically decorated or sculpted like in paper mache ,done with biodegradable paints ,not just plain cardboard box ), burried and a tree planted on the burial site.I quite like this idea actually ( I might even go for this and no this isn't madness  ) and means more trees planted if this gets many followers and less use of cement /come out clean and green.

can't put it as a joke thread grandpainak , it's reality ,old or younger we never know what the next day brings ,sometimes it comes unexpected , it's good to start thinking and have a plan of it , considering the few possibilities of how it should be done bases on preferences.
