    I was just wondering.
Is there an organization of expats in dumaguete that regularly get together to do some civic/charity work or anything as a GROUP?
I am sure there are many individuals who are already doing this. Just curious if anything is being done at group level. Both for the public good, and also to improve (not that it is bad) image of expats.

Don't know about Dumaguete...but the Rotary in Tagbilaran is active in assisting local communities. They do a lot of good work and are an excellent model for others to follow. It's a joint effort with civic-minded Filipinos and expats helping out...They've got a website here:

Would be nice to see the same eventuate in Dumaguete...Bacolod too...

I hope there is one, but if there is none it is time to form a civic/charitable organization for expats in Dumaguete. All of us is capable of giving back to this land we've grown to love, as a GROUP. It will have a greater impact.

Does anyone attend the Dumaguete council meeting? Are those meetings open to the public? I've read in this forum some complaints about Dumaguete, maybe we can air our grievances to the people who can actually do something about it.

You ought to bring that up at the next Dumaguete Info meeting.

Gawad Kalinga is not an expat group but they seem to do a lot of good work and have been active on Negros.

One of our member is a (Duma) city councillor. Hopefully, he will be able to attend the meeting. Very nice gentleman, approachable and he would welcome suggestions, comments (bad or good).
