⌛ Scam alert....

Professional scammers pretending to be Phil Immigration called on the landline and said my Wifes OCW Brother had been in a fight with his boss, killed him and he had been smuggled back to the Phil for medical treatment from being injured in that fight.

Money needed, send to bla...bla...bla...

Mama said they had the presentation down perfect, sounded extremely authentic.

Heads up!

 

That same scam was around a few years ago. They never stop trying.

thanks for the info, seems this scammer have some good mentors,

quite some embassies in the PI call each single number in the phone of a "stranded" citizen of their country and ask for money for his ticket home.

When I got that call the first time for a Brit in trouble from Manila, I could not really believe that this is true. Luckily the warden of the British embassy for Negros is a member here on DI, so I shot him a mail and asked if that can be true.

Well, he confirmed it is true. So if it works for Embassies, why not for scammer...
