⌛ Food in Dumaguete

There are a ton of restaurants in Dumaguete, especially the Boulevard is full of good places to eat.

I took it upon myself to go out and try a few of these places, and write a couple of lines about each, feel free to add more restaurants or comments to the restaurants I have visited already.

 

Coco Amigos

My mouth is watering just thinking about the Jalapeno Soup, it is absolutely awesome. Chicken Enchiladas are a close second and with the best cheese cake in town that rounds up a perfect meal. This is also the only Mexican restaurant in Dumaguete as far as I know.

Coco Amigos is located on the Boulevard on the pier end.

 

Le Chalet at Why Not

Great Swiss food and the portions are huge, they also have this awesome salad bar buffet style, where you mix your own salad and after that the wairtresses weigh it and you pay P3.50 per 10 grams, that works out great. the Swiss restaurant in Dumaguete is great for sure.

Le Chalet is located in the Why Not building on the Boulevard, close to Shakeys and Bethel Hotel.

 

Persian Palete.

Potato Express Dipper - Even though it ain't express at all :D Lat time we went in there we ordered a bunch of small appetizers and main courses, and the last thing to arrive on the table was the Potato Express Dipper. But the food in there is great, I think I prefer ordering a whole bunch of appetizer stuff in stead of their full meal though, but definately a plus to have an Indian restaurant in Dumaguete.

Downside was the portion of Chicken Curry I ordered was more expensive than my chicken curry in Le Chalet and the portion was a lot smaller. - Thank God for appetizers :D

Persian Palete is actually a little chain of restaurants, I have seen another branch in Ayala in Cebu as well.

Dumaguete Persian Palate is located just off the Boulevard, very close to Coco Amigos and the Globelines building.

 

Haya Hay and Labas

Seafood restaurants right outside Dumaguete city, they have live fish, oysters, carbs and lobster in tanks, so you pick your victim and eat it there. Lobster I think ran at P1800 a kilo.

You have to take a trike out to the restaurant, don't worry about getting back, there are plenty of trikes buzzin' by all the time.

Best days to go music wise are Wednesdays and Saturdays, this might of course change.

You get to the Restaurants by hailing a trike in town and telling them to go to Labas / Haya Hay - they all know where it is. Trike fare should be somewhere around P40 - P50 I think.

 

Scoobies

Oh my...

I had to try this place after seeing many branches all over town. I ordered a burger with fries and my companion ordered Spaghetti with a piece of chicken.

The chicken drumstick was the only edible part of this scoobies meal, the spaghetti sauce was just banana catsup and my burger was horrible. like a sweet bun with a very stretched hamburger the size of a 5 Peso coin.

Sorry, I was not impressed.

The prices were low though, so they might be aiming at the students with a low budget.
