Anyone here ever visit NOAH (Negros Oriental Arts and Heritage) in Bacong? The stone craft is beautiful.
So you went there ! I hav'nt seen any advertisement or billboards along the highway although I pass Bacong many times a week. Can you elaborate a bit what you have seen there and share us your impressions ? Maybe I can find something on the web but if you have your own judgement it would be nice to hear WH. Thanks.
We had been there in NOAH but honestly I am not too impressed . They put a lot of work though but perhaps needs a lot of improving of designs and variety of their crafts to be highly competetive.Maybe, a step for the future.
As an artist and crafter, I will defend their use of patterns. They do try to vary them, but it's difficult to do original designs on everything and be competetive in pricing. Their main product is what they call stone craft. The website doesn't do it justice. It's similar to cloisonne using stone. They have other crafts done elsewhere, but with a good selection and price range, maybe a little high on the prices, but you know how that works. They carry some nice gifts in a convenient place. It's worth a look.
Actually NOAH has great stuff for tourists. They buy it cheap anywhere in the PI and sell it with a big profit. It has nothing to do with local handicrafts... it is the same sh... you can buy in Makati Ayala and any other mall. for tourists it is still greart cause it is still cheap for good work.... so have a look there, when you go home you still have somethimg special...
