Sept. 23, round 9am, I was on my way to dumaguete city from bacong. Before the boundary of dumaguete there was a checkpoint. Everyone was stopped by the Police + LTO people.

They check my licensed and registration, gave me a ticket and took my driver’s license with them.

My violation? NO plate number attached, NO side mirrors and NOT authorize to wear slippers. No problem with that because it true. That's my fault anyway.

But I when pass by the police station, there was this two police guys riding a motorcycle (same model as mine - XLR 200)

...and guess what, they have NO plate number, NO side mirror ...ofcors they have to wear shoes because they are on duty.

But what the bloody hell was that? ...are they exempted for this kind of rules? And also the Traffic management people, who loves to charge anyone for violations ...they don't even have side mirrors. These people should be the role models. Right? :p

Wow. Thanks for posting that. I didn't even know they do that.
Of course, I'm sure they have ticket quotas to meet and they need
to bring in some income somehow right? Haha. I agree it's hypocritical...
if you are still under some illusion that the rules have meaning...otherwise its just lazy (at hiding the hypocrisy for face value).

So how much is this going to cost you? How do you get your license back? And is it a local or foreign license?

Sorry this happened to you, man, I guess it's a learning experience, hope tomorrow is a much better day for you.

Haven't got a clue about the cost (maybe 1K+), still have to go to LTO office tomorrow to check for it.

The apprehending enforcers have 24hours to submit it to LTO office and they give me 72hours for my appearance (including the 24hours). So i still have 48hours left. Thats b******T!

It's just a local license ...but i could happen to anyone ...except for the Police, LTO and TMO personnels. There's nothing i can do about that.

Anyway, i have borrowed a camera ..hope i can take some photos of them tomorrow and post it here.

Christ mate...you give them a great opportunity - and they will milk you for every peso they can get.....What's a couple mirrors and plate cost? No offense but how can you ride without shoes too? I did in Hawaii stupidly many years ago and now have skin where a big toenail used to be...it happens...

Hope you get your license back someday....

@garbonzo: I'm just wearing sleepers (have done it for 8years+)

and a couple of mirrors only cost around a hundred+.

But in Dumaguete city, 80% of the motorcycles don't have it and i'm one of them (not to mention the police, land transpo and traffic guys) ...i know that in other countries they are very strict with this one for safety purposes. ...But here, it's just not fair.

Just maybe they are encouraging safety, and when they collect enough fines they will be able to safely equip themselves. I hope they thank you for your contribution and bid you safe travels.

    Got my license back.

    NO mirrors = Php 1K
NO plate number = Php 200
NOT authorize to wear slippers = Php 77

But they have no paper clips. So, they use a stapler.

You will probably find that the "LTO people" as you referred to, are from the regional office in Cebu. They come here every couple of months and do regular spotchecks. A few reasons for this are:-
    1) The local LTO can't be trusted with doing this properly.
    2) The LTO inspectors, although coming from the same region, aren't known here and can't be "got at" by the locals.
    3) They don't warn the local police until the day they arrive, usually, so that our beloved police force can't put out word.
    4) They are much stricter and enforce the law as it stands in this province.

You were lucky they only took your license, in Cebu, they take your bike, car, or whatever you're driving. Their vehicles with no side mirrors and no licence plates? Come on, they're governement owned, they're bl**by lucky to have tyres!:D

    My Friend,
Haven't you learned yet that when it comes to the Fils and some other countries, rules may only apply to "Foriegners"?

But in actuality, it is also true in the country you come from....think about it....haven't you ever observed a off duty law enforcement officer break some law/rule of your "home" country? Of course you have.
You did the "crime"...now "Do the time"...OR "Pay the fine"...and don't worry about what others are doing.....you will get ulcers! Be safe.
