    Hello Everyone....
Can anyone tell me on how to get a driver's license in Dumaguete? What is the requirements and the fee? My brother will be driving a motorcycle and I'm not sure if there is a difference on a driver's license between cars and motorcycle.
If anyone can give me some info. I would appreciate it.
    Thanks.

Anita, I believe he will have to first get a student permit first, if this is his initial license. My wife had to recently, it cost p300, she can apply for the licence in 6 mos.

    Drivers License

The true and correct name for a drivers license in Dumaguete is a "Steerage Permitt" meaning that you know how to steer the vehicle,, Driving is a word only used in foreign country's where you know what stop signs, lines on the road and speed limits mean. Not trying to be too sarcastic but i just came back here and was told i needed to take a drivers test as my Philippine license had expired 2 years ago,, funny thing is i am 56 yrs old and presently hold 4 valid driving licenses from country's other than the Philippines, to make a long story short i told them to "plant" it as it was too early for Christmas also my daughters, wife and nephew have never taken a drivers test and got a valid license and only know how to drive scooters and don't even know what a "clutch" is or how to use one if driving a car and have never driven a car in their lives.. And i need a test???????

sure you need a test; you may have got accustomed to some strange driving technics in those 4 countries you got the licenses from, like right of way or following some other crazy rules, hey

You surely do not need a test. You can have one of your existing drivers licenses translated. I have done that with my german license within 60 minutes.

Downside is, I had to do it in Quezon at the main LTO office, as they did not want to do it here at the "field office dumaguete" and kept coming up with reasons why I need a translation.

I am not kidding, if you have a license from another country, the easiest way is to go to Quezon.

EDIT: with having your existing license translated, I mean that they actually give you a filipino license within minutes.

But I would hope that they would not have a problem translating an English or American license in a local LTO office. If not then that is additional proof on our previous posts about the PI 3rd language of English problems in the education system we keep running into.
