It is open. Unfortunately for me, my injuries are preventing me from using it. I saw a friend who joined and he said it is not too crowded in the morning. He has a pass to park at the school so parking isn't a problem for him but I assume it is for others.

 

I have been going late morning to early afternoon and it has never been crowded even on Saturday. Great facility, top notch machines, and helpful trainers. You don't have to look for a trainer for a spot or advice, they are out on the floor looking to see if they can help. Parking is a problem but I just park near my favorite refreshment emporium and take a trike. That way I can rehydrate immediately after working out.

Yeah, it may be an old thread but we are all talking about the same gym that opened about a month ago, June 2011. But thanks for the heads up.

1000P a month membership and new members are required to pay a 750p initiation fee/misc fee. So, 1750P to sign up....

If you're into cardio machines...there's only one elliptical and 3 treadmills for the gym. 1PM on Friday I was in there to have a look and the cardio machines all full. :-(

I've been to the new gym just to check it out, even doled out 300 php to work out there one day I really wanted to do something physical and my regular gym was closed. (days where I really want to work out are in their essence limited, so I'd better move on it, when it happens - otherwise the San Miguel will get the better of my waist!)

The new gym is arguable more fancy looking than the "old" contender (Fit for Life in the Banderas building) - but I think that trendiness comes at quite a premium, considering it's 750 php in bullshit fees for them to hand you a bag to advertise for free for them. Then, on top of that it's a 1000 a month.

Now that Fit for Life has sensed there's another big fish in the water (indeed it gobbled up a lot of their customers) they've finally gotten bigger dumbbells - in every size up to 100lbs, and have gotten some new machines.

Amazingly neither of the gyms have anywhere suitable to do deadlift. The smith rack that the new gym has, and proposes to be usable for this king-of-exercises is even inclined. This is just outright wrong and dangerous.

I don't mind fancy, even though you'll never catch me in spandex (now, neoprene on the other hand..) - but these sort of decisions make me happy I'm still with Fit for Life.
