Well, I know I've only been here for 5 months now, but please allow me some observations.
For the first time, we were at the mall after dark. And we had to ride home on our motorcycle.
And I have got over 40 years experience on motorcycles of all sizes.
BUT, that was a truely scary experience.
    1. Headlights are an option.
    2. Tail lights are an option.
    3. Break lights are almost non-existant.
    4. Reflectors?
    5. Pedicabs.....nothing.
    6. Motorcabs.....nothing.
    7. Slow down because of lack of lighting. Not going to happen.
    8. Out of town....going 50 kph on a pitch black road and come up on a black painted motorcab, with no lights, no reflectors going 10 kph.
All in all, it was quite an "experience".
Only the strong (or stupid) survive, I guess.

this are actually the minor issues for driving at night, my favorites are the sleeping people in the middle of the road and the bright headlights, but only turned on about 20 meters in front of you, coming with 70 km/h at you.

But the absolute winner was around 5 pm. Rhoody on his bike behind another bike with 2 pork (alive) tight on its back... after 5 seconds some scared, panic squeaking and both of them released tons of body liquids in different color and density.

"When the sh*t hits the Fan" sounds like a bedtime-story compared to that experience ...

But I guess the people here would feel the same fear driving in Houston, where a "normal" speed on the freeways is 80 to 85 mph (135 kph) and dealing with the Katy freeway and it's 24 lanes of traffic (12 each way).
And my favorite there is seeing many ladies driving 85mph in their ford excursions while talking on a cell phone AND putting on make-up.

    Vain to the MAX!

And when was the last time you saw one of those Exercusions with every seat taken? They only buy them because they are advertised safe to the driver but not the other drivers they run into with them. I'd rather pig poo in the face than to be t-bonned by a GMC, Excursion, etc.

Our problem here in Oz is similar....bimbos in basic model Korean cars changing lanes every five seconds with their mobile phone in their ear...I see one mated with the car in front almost daily....

Still is paradise compared to driving in the Philippines....at least I know what to expect.....

My favorite is the "one eyed" Jeepney, Multi-cab, Ceres Bus, ________, coming at you in the dark on a VERY narrow dark road all the while you are thinking it is just a motorcycle!

    Knowdafish,

One eyed jeep or multicab would be the least of your problems than having a Ceres liner taking part of your lane with 100 kph speed coming towards you.
