Yeah, I admit it does get annoying when you are trying pass on the sidewalk when they walk three abreast and are texting, or driving so slow in traffic while texting, or just stop their vehicles, barely pulling over and text. Or when they are driving and merging from a side street into traffic and not even look. Must be good Catholics and have faith in God. Speaking of which, my wife's car was boxed in for twenty minutes while some lady went to visit the church. Must be nice to be the only one in the world who matters. Or speed up to pass you, then slam on their brakes to let someone off, without pulling over to the curb. Just block the flow of traffic. Or drive down a road under construction the wrong way when big signs declare, one way, no entry and by doing so hold up traffic for an hour before it gets sorted out. It's annoying when they drive without lights at night or go from the left side of the road, cut in front of you to make a right turn down a side street. Or not use turn signals or have working brake lights. Or when you make a left turn, with turn signals on and have an idiot pass you on the left side hoping to make it through before you hit him. d*mn foreigners. When will they learn.

Ah, the city of gentle people. Not a single traffic light. Traffic management officers all over the place. I do not know how a previous poster managed to miss them. Most are extremely wise and judicious in their interventions. If traffic flow isn't broken - then they do not attempt to fix it. Kudos all around!

I both walk and ride my bicycle all over Dumaguete. I love it! If you see a dead foreigner at the side of the road, it will probably be me. I'll have a smile on my face!

    Chi town,
It's a pity your list is not complete.
Carabow with bamboo in nighttime without any light or bycicles crossing the street from left to right and back when it's dark without lights or some friends having a drinkingspree at night on the tarmac and offcaurse the incoming trafic with headlights and we don't talk about the behavior of Cereslinerdrivers.
A few years ago the road between Dumaguete and Bacong was reduced to one lane over a distance of 20 meters while they were making an underpass-canal for heavy flooding during rainy season.
During this period at least 3 people lost their lives in frontal colitions during nighttime
You hardly could find any clear signalisation on that place. A real a invitation for accidents.
Even it was within Bacong the road is a provincial road and untill now they are not yet sure who is responsible for the signalisation
Sometimes i wonder why one country is called a developed country and others a developing country.
    Only a few letters difference.

Respect.....It is something that we all like to receive, rich poor or otherwise in any Country we happen to be in.
And I believe if you give respect to others that in 99% of cases you will receive it back.
Anybody who treats another person as a lesser being or thinks that they are better than other people, needs to be humbled. In most cases the right choice of words usually doe's the trick. In cases were it doesn't just walk away.

besided respect is something you earn, I always get annoyed by people who claim it, if you act in the right manner you will get respected, act wrong and you wont

I am still a bit puzzeled about people who are getting shoved considering the average size and weight of most expats

Perhaps this is an unfamiliar term in the Philippines,......There is something that's called "common courtesy & consideration" which ideally (for a more harmonious society) should be extended to fellow beings as 90+% of the people you ran into on a daily basis are strangers that may not have enough time to "earn" your respect.
