Hi, I didn't see any posts about Tanjay. I was wondering if it too was a great place to visit?

Well they have ballroom dancing in their park on Fridays, and rock and roll on Saturdays.. but other than that and the horses fighting each other during Tanjay fiesta, there's probably not a whole lot to say for the place. Maybe others will add to what's to do there and prove me wrong ?

Most of the towns around Negros on the map are little burgs without much going on.

Tanjay is famous for its Budbod sa Tanjay, a sweetened sticky rice wrapped and cooked in banana leaves. Budbod festival celebrated in the month of December but surely, you'll find budbod when you visit the town anytime (in the market of course). 'budbod' must prepared to eat with 'tsokolate' or what they called 'tablia'..

also, every FRIDAYs, there's always an 'ukay-ukay' in the plaza of Tanjay..

other than that, is the super friendly people of tanjay..

Tanjay is not a town for tourists; it is a wholesome place to live in. It is a town with a strong middle class who are relatively better educated. There is no town in the province that does not have a school teacher with roots from Tanjay. Consequently, a good portion of Tanjayanons have ventured overseas as professionals.

A few of us have started to come home to retire and we exclaim among ourselves that "this is Paradise".

Tanjayanons are a fun loving people who enjoy the simple things in life, like dancing, feasting and indulging in family oriented activities. This is possible because Tanjay is a very peaceful and safe community.

You have to know Tanjay to appreciate it.

Nothing Tanjay can do. This is a provincial and national concern, But see, we are still happy and surviving.

Yes Tanjay looks like a nice enough community to live in. In my earlier post I meant that it's not much of a "tourist destination" per se. Even though back in 1999 my first love from Tanjay turned out to be an evil lying mentally defective witch-not to mention her entire family..I don't hold it against the town. :D
