Hi All, my name is Ross, Australian, retired pilot, and looking at a move to your part of the world. It's a toss up between Chiang Mai in Thailand, or Philippines, possibly Dumaguete. Divorces in this country are expensive so I'm looking to a cheaper living environment. I'd appreciate any info that anybody would care to send my way; my email is saxpirant2@gmail.com One of the things I will need is a saxophone teacher; I'm an intermediate sax player and still take a lesson only about once a month to iron out any bad habits. I'd imagine that won't be a problem, knowing the Filipinos' love of music and the population of Demaguete. Thanks in advance for any info anybody wishes to send.
Welcome to the forum Chris. If you do choose Dumaguete perhaps there will be a jazz band in Dumaguete's future? Just remember things will only be cheaper depending on what you will be willing to give up. Good luck on whichever you choose.
Hi Ross, hope life is kinder for the future, wherever you choose. Welcome to the forum, how did you find it?.........JB
Life is never unkind JB, just sometimes better or worse than other times, but always good. It easily beats the alternative. We're architects of our own destinies, and a divorce is a long way from the worst thing that has ever happened to me. I'm not sure how I found the forum...exactly, but I think I was looking for something on Thaivisa.com - Home and saw a post that mentioned the Philippines, and particularly Dumaguete as a fine place for retirement, so I googled it, and here I am. Dumaguete is only one place, of course, but it may be a good starting point.
LOL we don't have divorce here but i'm inclined to believe that that can be more expensive, heartbreaking and frustrating in the long run. hope u enjoy your stay here...
