There are approximately 120 million people in the Philippines. Just how many
of those are there playing in this golf tournament you speak of? How many of
those fit on the private tennis court here in town? Maybe I am just a naive
    ole country boy.

cold one for Rhoody... your my man..

I wonder a bit why all famous "team-sports" in the US are those where there are more (commercial) breaks than action
...Maybe that's why they call the end of each game crunch-time, as you see more commercial breaks for Pringles and ther snacks than action on the field.

Tennis and Golf has the same Status here in the PI like in Germany 25 years ago... If you join to a Tennis or golf-club you belong to the upper class. There is realy only one sport which gets my full attention.

The best sport is the beertransport
    peace and cheers

Right you are Rhoody, my favorite is that fine old Olympic sport of the
beer run. You run a few feet and then grab an Olympic beer. Run a few
more feet and grab another. Then you sit down and grab several. The
    winner is last man sitting.
    Cheers and cold beers

    Football or basketball

you will find basketball everywhere in the Philippines, Why because it takes very little room to do it and the cost of keep it up is almost nothing. But a football field takes a very large area and to keep it nice, not cheap.
    oh go Arsenal !!!!

    Football (Soccer)

Teacher, when I grew up we played football on the streets (not many cars up our road) using gate ways for goals. Or any flat land. I have seen what passes for basketball courts in PH and with a couple of jumpers for goal posts they would be just as suitable for football.

some of the best football players that have walked the earth began kicking a ball against a wall, most of my youth was spent kicking the ball between two jumpers, with "the fat lad" in goals. sadly i never made wembley hahaha

david beckham spent most of his time playing in a 25 mtr space, perfesting his free kicks, football is now one of the best ways to break out of poverty, in the same way boxing used to be, there are more African players playing in the champions league than ever, they never had proper football fields.

Wellying a ball up the field never help ranaldo to perfect his skills, that style of play, also emulated by many Brazilian players, is what makes the game enjoyable for me. you can practice that anywhere.

a 5 a-side game can easily be played on a basketball court.
